PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Sunsets and Flowers in the Garden
Week 46 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
It’s been hot. Like very hot. Not Germany hot. African hot in Germany. And it was humid. I don’t like humidity. It makes me tired, exhausted, and lazy. When it’s humid like that I act as the African soil. Waiting for the relief. The rain!

This week we had been at my grandma’s. Looking after her and spending quality with the family. The days were hot and we didn’t go much outside. It was too hot for her to go out in the sun.
But the sunsets on the balcony I did not miss one evening!

Back home again the roses in front of our terrace all popped open. They were still shy buds when we left to my grandma. Now, on our return, they were blooming in full glory overlooking the valley.

Roses from a different angle.
Roses in a different light.
Roses during the sunset light.

And for some change in my collection, I got some poppy flowers too. The landlord had done some heavy weeding earlier this season. Her garden had looked like a wild meadow and she seemed to like it clean.
But I was wrong. She did clean up a lot. Just to make space for more weeds and let the wildflowers bloom. I saw the bottom of the garden getting thicker and thicker when I spotted these colorful poppy flowers from my window. I hadn’t seen pink ones before like in the title image. But they seem to grow here too.

And as I’m lying in bed this late evening and writing down my thoughts on my tablet the landscape seen through the window catches my attention. The sky seems to turn into a colorful spectacle long after the sun had set behind the mountains. Making me getting up one more time and capturing this scene from our terrace.

This photo was taken in the late evening after a heavy downpour came past the village. I went outside to soak in the fresh air and look for an object to capture when these raindrops on the roses caught my eye.
Don’t miss the fly sitting on the pink petal in the middle of the picture.

Another thunderstorm visited us this morning when I was still lying in bed. I listened to the sound of the rain and got up once I heard the birds singing again. Moisture was rising from the forest creating this gloomy scene after the rain.
This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome everyone! Dennett was the one starting this photography challenge sometime last year and many have participated ever since.
