PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE

When Summer Takes Over

Week 45 of the photographic documentary of my daily life

Summer has brought us some lovely vibes. With the Covid numbers dropping below the 20-mark, beer gardens are finally allowed to open up again, and even inside seating at restaurants is happening. It’s amazing to see people walking through the city. Chatting and socializing. It’s been long. It’s been overdue.

Time to recharge our batteries. Get some dopamine in the system and share happy vibes with friends and family.

Not just humans and animals can be sick. Plants too. This rose had been blooming last year in such a happy color. But this year she’s sick. Not sure what illness she has but she’s clearly not well.

This wild rose bush stole my attention on my way to work. It’s not just the blooming that shines from far. There’s a buzzing going around the bush you can’t imagine. Hundreds of pollinators are flying from one flower head to the next one. Bees seem to like this wild-growing rose.

It’s Saturday. A working day for me. Another weekend at work is another successful weekend. We were finally allowed to operate again and the weather played along as well. Pure sunshine with some smaller clouds in between couldn’t make our day better.

Blue skies and happy landings” how skydivers say goodbye!

After work, we went to the Vietnamese restaurant today. It’s been the first time we were in a restaurant since back in Germany in late March. They literally only opened up this week again.

It’s been amazing sitting together and socializing with the team.

This big building ahead with the people sitting out front is btw the oldest restaurant in Germany. “Der Riese” in Miltenberg is always fully booked but I’ve managed to dine there once last year. Delicious!

I captured these flowers in the village. Walking up the stairs between houses they were hanging off the balcony. The green in the background is the meadow where horses usually graze on.

Today we drove back to my grandma to spend a few more days with her. After she went to bed I sat down on the balcony watching this magical scene in the sky as the sun was setting.

Sometimes I struggle with taking pictures when I’m out with my husband. Either he walks on purpose in the shot when I want to get a nature-only photograph or he just stands around. Not smiling. Maybe this is part of taking street photography. You can’t influence people’s facial expressions.

However, this shot is about the architecture and the beautiful center of town where my grandma lives. In the background, you can see the market we visited today.

This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome everyone! Dennett was the one starting this photography challenge sometime last year and many have participated ever since.

Erika Burkhalter / Eileen Vorbach Collins / Sasha Meyer / Tracy Aston/ Lisa Bolin / Juan O. Aguilera / David Wade Chambers / Mia Verita / Susan Alison / LensAfield / Barbara Radisavljevic / Diana Lotti / Barbara Dalton and new to the team came Kim Zuch with “Yoga, Vet, and Vaccine”.
