UPDATE: October 2023

I have changed the title of this Publication from “Curation and Meedium Matters” to “Boosting and Writing Matters.” You’re not allowed to use the word “Medium” in your Publication Title, OR a similiar word!

If you would like to share a story about the impact of your boosted story, comment with “I want to be a writer” and give your Medium User Name.

Polite reflections about the boost program are also accepted for this Publication. Wait for up to 3 days before being added as a writer if you are approved. Then wait for up to 3 days after submitting your story (if you are an approved writer) for a response.

Please FOLLOW this Publication if you are a writer (for updates).

UPDATE: December 2022

If you would like to curate or share someone else’s story, you can request to be a Writer for this Publication (in the Comments). Have a look at the section on the homepage titled CURATE SOMEONE ELSE’S STORY to see how this works. Basically you write a short article explaining why you like the story that you are sharing, and use the tag “Curated” so it appears in this section. Thank you!

UPDATE: February 2022

If you write quality, helpful articles about working with Medium, you can apply to be a writer/editor for this Publication. If you are accepted, before writing & submitting a piece, please search “Curation and Meedium Matters” to see if the topic has already been written about. That way you can provide new information OR be first to write about it for this Publication. Thank you.

You only need to follow Point 1 in the Guidelines below if you want to be added as a Writer or an Editor to have stories about working with Medium published in “Curation and Meedium Matters.” Comment on this page that you would like to be added as a Writer and give your Medium user name, e.g. https://medium.com/@xxxx — where you only need to give me the @ and the part after the ampersand.

No excessive self-promotion or pieces that regurgitate Medium’s official blog articles without your own impartial analysis, will be accepted. All stories must be polite and any slanderous content will not be published.

ORIGINAL PURPOSE OF THIS PUBLICATION

This Publication was for Medium writers whom have had a Story curated, to feature up to 10 curated Stories on Medium, per post / Story, once a week at the most; according to the following Rules.

A curated Story, for the purpose of this Publication, “Curation Matters” is defined as a Story selected by a Medium Curator to be placed under a TOPIC.

This Publication is not for stories which are put into a Medium-run Collection / Publication (at the moment) because it is a new publication; with limits to the number of writers/editors for this Publication, at the moment. This Publication is for stories on Topic Pages. 😄

A Writer status will mean that you submit a story and then wait for it to be published by me, Grace Mary Power.

An Editor status means that you will be able to add your draft Story to this Publication and Publish it yourself.

Note your articles will have to be well written and accurate if you’re publishing them yourself.

I reserve the right to make MINOR EDITS to articles that Editor writers publish here, and to remove published articles that are inaccurate, confusing, or too accusatory.

To be added as either, write in a Comment that you have read these Guidelines and would like to be added as a Writer or as an Editor.

After applying, check “Publications” under your Medium avatar to see if you have writer/editor status approved. This may take 2 or 3 days from applying. You can also check for a Reply to your comment requesting to be a writer/editor.

Once you have been accepted to submit articles about working with Medium, please take the following action.

  1. First, please write and submit or add a short Story about your Bio and use the tag BIOGRAPHY. Bio stories of contributors to this Publication will be featured on the Home page, initially. If there are too many for the Home page, a separate linked Page will be set up. See my Bio for an example.

If you have a published story about you in another Publication or on your Profile page, alternatively, you can just submit/publish your first list of curated stories, or an article about working with Medium with a LINK to your bio.

You must submit or publish your Bio and your initial Story with up to 10 of your top (favourite) curated Stories within 4 weeks of joining this Publication.

DISREGARD THE FOLLOWING WHICH HAS BEEN LEFT FOR HISTORICAL INFORMATION !

Because Distribution a.k.a. Curation is no longer promoted by Medium or even discernible, the following points do not apply!

2. Write and add your first Story with links to up to 10 Curated Stories to this Publication, listing up to 10 of your own curated Stories, providing data shown in the following Story of my curated Stories. Templates for formatting your stories for your lists (Stories) of curated stories are provided below. Add your initial story (with links to up to 10 curated stories) to get your curated stories “on the map,” at the same time or soon after publishing or submitting your Bio (these initial 2 stories can be posted on a weekend or a weekday). This is so your first list of curated stories can be easily associated with your Bio. 😄

Please read the Stories below.

You are encouraged to include

The Topic Name for your curated story (if known)

The Publication name if your story was published in a Publication

Date of Publication

Story Duration

for each curated story…in your articles listing curated stories.

However, if you can’t work out the Topic name(s) now that curation has changed, it’s okay to just use the story’s Tag Names. 😃

3. After your first 2 Stories, as above, for your Bio and initial favourite curated stories are published (by yourself or by me), please only write and publish a Story on this Publication once a week or once every two weeks (once a fortnight), or once a month, preferably on a Saturday or a Sunday, listing your curated story titles during that duration. Please use an image from one of your curated Stories at the top of your Story, or another appropriate non-offensive image. You can Schedule your story for publishing, if you are an Editor. (Make sure you only ever publish your own stories if you are an Editor).

4. If you have tips about curation, please write and add or submit that Story to “Curation Matters”, making sure you use the Tag CURATION TIPS. Your title can be something like “Curation Tips — xyz by [ insert your name ]”. xyz can be replaced by something unique about your curation tips or by the date you are adding or submitting the Story (to make it unique from other Stories).

Note: if your tips are in an already published Story of yours, create a new Story including links to the published Story (or Stories), and use the tag CURATION TIPS. Only writers who have had a Story curated can submit a “Curation Tips” Story to this Publication.

Many of these Stories will be featured on the Home page, as well as under the Page titled “Curation Tips”, accessible at the top of this Publication’s Home Page.

Note: the purpose of this Publication is to share with others, what frequency and sort of content is curated under what Topic(s) when, and by which Publication, if any.

Curation is not a guarantee that interaction with a Story will increase, but it usually does increase Views, and to get Reads or Claps, your Story needs Views.

Remember to use the Tags: Biography for your once-off Bio, and Curation for your Stories sharing your latest curated stories. Use Curation Tips for posts about how to get curated or other information about curation.

Bad language (e.g. swearing) and offensive content (e.g. offensive images or slander) will not be allowed in this Publication.

Anyone not following these rules, will be warned, and if transgressions continue, will be removed from the Publication.

For clarity, this Publication is not an officially sanctioned Medium endeavour. I have contacted Medium whom has said as long as I or we don’t imply this Publication is run by the Medium company itself, this Publication is an approved personal Publication on Medium. 😃

Please, new Writers / Editors, submit your short Bio story and then your initial post / Story with up to 10 of your favourite or best curated Medium Stories linked, within 4 (four) weeks of joining this Publication. Do NOT publish anyone else’s Stories if you are an Editor for Curation Matters.

After that, submit or publish stories with links to up to TEN (10) only Curated Stories once a week / fortnight / month with a title such as:

Mary Poppins: Curated Stories fortnight ending [ date ]

Rin Tin Tin: Curated Stories, October 2019

June 2021 Notice: Curation Matters is now accepting new writers or editors to share articles about working with Medium.

Thank you.
