Strike While the Iron Is Hot, I Already Made $140.33 in 8 Days
FOMO Alert: Write and Publish.

Grab your top writer badges now. There were months when I lost and did not gain a new top writer badge. Today I received my 10th in ‘Inspiration’.
What’s the secret? There is no secret, except to write more stories.
I’m guessing there is an algorithm change, just a hunch. Aside from the badges, my views are way better than in previous months. Last month was my best performing month without the bonuses from last year.
I ended up with $266.35 in March.
And happy to report that in April, after 8 days I made $140.33, the caveat is many of the stories that made money were from March, but a few from April are performing very well.
What changed?

I’m getting more traffic. I took the extra effort in writing and rewriting my headlines and in finding images.
If I can recall the last time this happened to me was in July 2021, when I had my first ‘viral story’, which up until today is getting new views.
Are there more paying subscribers? I have 3 referrals and I know some writers are doing well with the Referral Program.
If there’s a lesson here, it is to put a call to action on all your stories. You’ll never know which story will attract new readers who will be willing to pay $5 a month.
I followed Jan Sebastian’s advice and took time in engaging with fellow writers, especially on Twitter.
Result: More views, more reads, and more money.
Write smart
Last night, I watched the movie Child’s Play 3 on Netflix. I love slasher films. When I checked who produced the movie, it was Universal Pictures, the same studio that made Jurassic Park.
I asked myself why do big studios produce horror or slasher flicks? The answer is simple. They are cheaper and faster to make. Their box-office results can match those of big-budgeted movies.
The ROI is higher compared to a movie produced for $50 million.
Get Out, the Oscar award-winning movie was produced for under $5 million, it only took three weeks in production and the movie grossed $255.4 million.
It won Best Original Screenplay for Jordan Peele, the Oscar trophy was the bonus, and the prize was that it became a mega box office hit.
When I started writing on Medium it will take me a day or more to finish writing an article.
I was obsessed with the little details that it would take me another day to submit the story to a publication. It will take another day to hear from a publication if it was accepted or not.
While waiting for the results I wasn’t working on my next story.
Take action
Is it an algorithm change, or is Medium growing? Or I ‘write smart.’
I realize that in the same way big studios produce horror films, writers should find their ‘low hanging fruit’ meaning the stories you can write in an hour or less, the stories that don’t require a lot of research.
It is why your life experiences are your ‘low hanging fruits.’
Write fast, submit to a publication, or self-publish.
Times like this don’t last very long, take advantage while the readers are on the platform.
This reminds me of an ad, ‘Limited time only.’
It’s time to act fast, write and publish.
