Strategies to Boost Engagement on Your Medium Articles
600+ followers in just the last 3 weeks! all the strategies that worked.
Are you an invisible writer? You write some beautiful stuff but not getting enough attention? All new writers go through this in the initial couple of weeks.
But, don't feel bad about this. If you follow the right strategies, day by day- to improve, you can easily be successful here.
How did the strategies help me?
It took around one month to get 100 followers. Then in the second month when I improved my strategies, it took only 3 weeks to get another 600+ followers.

My articles received roughly 400 views and 200 reads in the last week.

I will explain the engagement strategies that worked for me.
How to increase the follower count?
There are people of different kinds. Finding the right kind of people is the key.
According to Adam Grant — Wharton’s top-rated professor, People are of three types.
“Most people operate as either Takers, Matchers, or Givers. Whereas takers strive to get as much as possible from others and matchers aim to trade evenly, givers are the rare breed of people who contribute to others without expecting anything in return.”
So connect with the Givers! they will support you. Support them back. Engage and Grow.
Tip: When you check someone’s Medium profile if the ‘following’ count exceeds the ‘followers’— They are the “Givers”.
And don't forget — You should also be a Giver! Express that explicitly by updating your profile. That helps.

Update your profile and assure others that you will engage back for sure.
How much do you need to engage?
Writing != Money
The equation involves more parameters than the above. Writing, Reading, Engaging. When all these parameters are applied in the right proportion, the right strategy will help you.
You must read enough to fill your brain, then only you can write consistently.
You must spend more time to engage(25 % writing + 75 % Reading and Engaging).
Time matters.
When someone follows you or puts a comment on your article — That means they are active. Then you can check their profile, read the latest articles, share your thoughts, clap, and support. That's what makes you a “Giver”.
When you check the “For you” section in Medium. You can see the most recently published articles. you can read those articles and support them right away.

How can we find the people who are ready to engage?
When you read articles and share your thoughts, In the comment section you can find people who actively interact with others. Engage with them. they will support you as well.
Make sure they are of type “Givers”.
The tag also matters.
Most of the new writers (including me) don't research the tags that we can include while publishing your article. Tag matters!
Here you can find a well-researched article about the popular tags and its follower count. Thanks to Miraç Yazıcı for your informative article about tag utilization. Use these tags wisely — it will bring your content to a wider audience. Otherwise, we will be invisible irrespective of the content we deliver.
Social media.
You might be already sharing your articles on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and WhatsApp. You can also find the right groups/spaces on Facebook, Quora, etc. That would be an additional boost for your articles.
