Let me share with you a golden rule that has proven effective for me on Medium, which helped me gain traction and earn money.

Firstly, what do I aim for?

I seek to attract an audience to my articles, encouraging them to invest their valuable time in reading. Through this, I aim to receive value in return, in the form of money.

That's what the TRUTH is.

Everyone desires a similar outcome, each in their own unique way. So, let’s deep dive into this golden rule, and I will explain the steps I’ve been following to make it fruitful.

RULE : As you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.

It might look simple, but this is how the entire world is going to be a better place for all of us. We all try to earn for ourselves, but the truth is that we can sustain ourselves only by supporting others.

You should also spend time valuing others as well.

What are the steps?

Read other articles genuinely, and find out what insights you can grab from it. Don’t just read and go; they also need your support. Always spend time to clap, comment, and helping others.

Notice: You can clap as many times — which is a good sign that you truly support that person. Don’t just clap once; there is nothing to lose if you clap multiple times.

Always share your experience(as a writer here) because, in the early stage of writing, everyone wants to know how things are working and what’s the practical way to survive.

You can write about how you identify topics, writing tips, and how to make more engagement.

Build others, and in turn, they will build you.

Build a bond with the writers by offering them continuous help. They will value you too.

Here are some very important checklists for you.

Consider the Medium members who are a “Friend of Medium”, as they contribute significantly to our survival. Invest more time in reading and supporting them back, as they’ve made a significant decision to support us.

Additionally, another group of individuals to consider are the publication owners. They assist us by managing the publications and providing us with a platform to reach a broader audience. Undoubtedly, this commitment consumes a significant amount of their time. Therefore, it’s crucial to follow and support them to the best of our abilities.

I recently started adopting this approach and I’m working to incrementally improve my support.

Some of the thoughts that ignited me.

For example, When I want to build a house, I will try to get support through part-time earnings, asking my friends for help, or even getting a loan.

So the question is.

Did I help somebody else in my past life who was in the same situation?

That’s a question that touched me. No, I didn’t genuinely think about helping them with the same passion in which I wanted something.

A great saying by Mother Teresa of Calcutta goes: “Poverty is not made by God. It is created by you and me when we don’t share what we have.

That’s something we can put into practice everywhere, even as a writer here.

“I earned some money” — that’s not right. You all helped me to earn something. So, think about that always! It’s a form of sharing and supporting.
