Stop Reading 100 Books. Focus on Taking Action.
If you have been in the self-development, solopreneur, or content marketing world for a bit you’ve probably noticed it: everyone is writing the same.
But the funny part is that still, we all want to know more. Even after reading numerous articles, blogs, and social media posts, even after following X and Y and having a mailbox full of daily and weekly newsletters, we are still in search of The Pearl, that content that will make our life take a twist.
And as soon as we read a headline like “I wish I knew it before” or “Do this and…”, there we go, click and read with the hope of change.
But you know what? If you have been here for a little while, you probably already know everything you need to know to start building and creating.
I used to try to read every single article out there, but you know what, the important is not to gather knowledge, the important is to START.
So yes, you don’t want to start foolishly and blindly, but the hardest part is to gather your courage and take the first step.
To start.
I’ve made this “mistake too”. I wanted to act wisely and consciously. I’ve read many books and taken many courses (with some of the best out there in the market) about:
- FBA selling
- SMMA creation (Social Media Marketing Agency)
- Affiliation
- Content marketing
They were very interesting, and I don’t regret it, but you know what? I wish I had started earlier in my journey.
So here is my advice:
If you want to start your journey in the online world and work towards your financial freedom:
1-Choose your reason: what are you doing this for? Is it to be able to work from anywhere? Is it to have more flexibility? Is it to earn more? Is it to prove something?
This will guide you towards one type of online business or another because not all bring the same results and each one has specificities.
2- Choose your business model: are you into video creation? are you into writing? into selling? into helping others? into coaching? into selling products? into music creation?
Then you’ll be able to focus on one business model, at least at first. Don’t forget the first thing I wrote here in Medium: if you want to go big, you’ll need to stack. Don’t hope to earn big with just one income, you’ll want to stack, here and there
3- Start: it’s so easy, and yet it’s the thing that scares us the most. Why? Because we fear failure. We fear judgment. If you were already making $5000/month, would you be afraid to go out there and share your knowledge? Yet, with the same knowledge, if you were making $10/ month, would you have the same confidence? I wouldn’t. And here is the error.
Start now, and just make it work.
No one is better than others. The $100 000/year creators and influencers are not smarter than you are, they haven’t done anything impossible. They just started some years ago and have made it through.
So start today, and in 5 years you will be able to look at how far we’ve come.
