Springs Calls For A Fresh Start
DEP Spring Contest
At times, change may sneak up on you. This time, it didn’t work on me. The ground was still frozen last night, and every breath pierced your lungs like a razor. This morning, the temperature is cool, the ground is soft, and even the air flirtatiously touches your face. It’s all over. I apologise. We’re finally going to have some excellent days. (In some ways, the weather is like a horrible boyfriend: it doesn’t care about your needs until you stop paying attention to it; then it attempts to win your devotion with extreme snow and hale, or sends forth gentle sunshine and pretty clouds. You can never predict what will happen, so never arrange your life around it.) Perhaps you place a lot of stock in signs. Perhaps you don’t. Even still, it seems overly apparent to dismiss this one. You were worn out since the winter had been incredibly tedious. Even if it is just to pray for something better, it is healthy to try.
I am privy to the fact that this is how I felt. It WAS a long winter. Not only because of the unusual weather patterns, but also because I was melancholy. It felt like I had a rock around my neck.I couldn’t even raise my head, so I couldn’t even look ahead. But it appears like change is finally in the air. Doors that I previously believed had closed for me are beginning to open. I’ve done some of the scariest, most intense writing and work I’ve done in years as a result of the fear and panic of the past four months. Opportunities are suddenly appearing. steadily but slowly. I sense that the burden is starting to lessen.
But it appears like change is finally in the air. Doors that I believed were closed for me are beginning to reopen. The last four months’ worry and terror drove me to write some of the scariest, most intense writing and work I’ve done in years. And now opportunities are appearing. Slowly but steadily. Maybe your spring isn’t like mine. Perhaps your winter was not as harsh. Perhaps they were worse. Even if something irritates or frustrates us, we can always start anew.
