Summary

Vidya Sury shares her experience of encountering decorative elephant statues at Mumbai airport during a layover, reflecting on the joy they brought her and inviting readers to share their own window shopping experiences.

Abstract

During a recent two-day trip to Mumbai, Vidya Sury found herself with six hours to spare at the airport due to an early appointment and the threat of rain. She took the opportunity to explore the airport's "Artbeat" museum and engage in leisurely shopping, something she rarely has time for. Her attention was captured by two large, beautifully crafted elephant statues that seemed to greet her with raised trunks, sparking a moment of joy and a reflection on the pleasures of window shopping. Vidya, known for her "Collecting Smiles" initiative, uses this encounter to encourage her readers to find delight in everyday moments, share their own experiences, and support her efforts to aid underprivileged children through her Ko-fi page.

Dancing Elephants Say Hello!

What a joyful sight!

Elephants at the airport — Photo by Vidya Sury ©

Last week I had six hours to while away at Mumbai airport. I was there on a two-day trip. Done with my appointment at 11 am, I checked out of my hotel around midday. There was the prediction of rain. The weather was pretty hot and humid and I figured I’d be better off at the airport with the air conditioning.

After wandering around and clicking photos of the “Artbeat” museum, I decided to check out the shops leisurely — something I usually don't get time to do as we’re always rushing to catch a flight or exit the airport.

I saw these two beautiful elephants joyously raising their trunks. They seemed to be saying hello. They were quite large and heavy. I doubt if I’d ever buy something like that but they certainly looked lovely, displayed like that on the glass counter.

Question for you: Do you enjoy window shopping? I invite you to share a photo you took and write about it! Do tag me!
