Soulless

Exploration of our “social” selves

Photo by Christian Lue on Unsplash

Am I the only body with a soul anymore? Why must we all give in To the Zuckerberg's who feast on our innate desire to be seen And no I am not above it I, too, fight with that desire, That need. I flirt and fumble. Tip toe then step back. Ultimately I haven’t been able to dive in. Is this a weakness? A true lack of vulnerability? Is it full of reservation and a need for a private life? One without hacking and led by invisible fame. Or, is it just that I can’t stand the scent of desperation for the profit of few. Can you?

I want to share myself. My poetry. My life, my feelings. And then I look at the world And I can’t help but to think Of all the things More important Than me. That’s all I see. Me! Me! Me! Me! Please! See me! Look at me! I like you if you like me! Please! Don’t like it unless you genuinely like it HOW DO WE KNOW ANYMORE Anymore. Anymore we run with our heads off our shoulders Blinded by the future While we plead Won’t the next one be me.
