Illumination has over 4,000 writers! Think about that for a moment. Four thousand plus highly creative minds beavering away writing all manner of poetry, prose, articles, short stories…..the mind truly boggles.

And we are fortunate in the extreme to have a board spread of abilities, from aspirational dreamers to hugely talented published, professional writers. As a reader/editor/publisher I am in the very fortunate position to enjoy all that passes my way.

Today I want to draw your attention to a few who have caught my attention, people who I believe have an awful lot to offer. It is a bit of a mixed bag and so much the better for it. As an editor, I am really not too bothered if something comes in with a few typos. Even JK Rowling needs an editor to sort out those minor defects.

What I am looking for is something that is engaging, something that shows the writer has genuinely got something to say. Now I am happy to tell you that all of my fellow editors more than fulfil that basic requirement. I am truly lucky to work with such a highly talented bunch of creative minds. Every single one of them blows me away. However, let’s start a bit further down the field in terms of exposure.

These first ones have shown me the seeds of real ability to write and they have the right attitude. But let me first say that one of the main pre-requisits for success here on Illumination is constancy. I would strongly recommend that you try to write and submit three pieces a day without fail. In time, people will see that you are taking this wonderful job of writing seriously.

Here is one writer who does just that. His name is Aldric Chen. I always see Aldric’s name in my feed, and that is a good sign of constancy. Another writer who has got me engaged is Haimish Mead. Haimish is a total professional and a joy to read. Haimish, like myself, is professional old school. Develop your craft with love and care. Be generous with your thoughts and feelings. Share yourself with your audience. Engage with your abilities as a writer and success will surely follow.

Like all accomplished writers Haimish writes with all of his heart, and then some. You see Haimish has a very big heart, and that means a great deal to me not only as a writer but also as a human being. His writing is par excellence. Take a look at the article below. I defy anybody to tell me different to what I have just written about Haimish.

Another young writer who I believe shows a great deal of promise is Rick Chen. Rick is still only in his twenties. Yet he shows a level of maturity and attitude I never had at that tender age. What’s more he has all the basics in place to develop as a writer of some repute. I have high hopes for Rick, I really wish to see him grow here on Illumination, which he will do if he keeps up with the ability shown in the article below.

Now here is a young lady who impressed me a lot with her personable style of writing. Reading this article she struck me not only as a writer, but also as somebody you could very easily count on as a dependable friend. The fact that she also likes to take the odd beer is even more endearing. Fatim Hemraj. What also impressed me was what an independent thinker and true to herself kind of person she is. That is one other thing you have to be to be a successful writer. Read on and enjoy this lovely introduction.

Ok, let's go back to the top of the field with Joe Luca. Joe is a highly talented writer and fellow editor and a great member of the team. Joe is Mister feet on the ground, no nonsense sort of guy. He is the man we turn to for common sense advice on all sorts of matters that pop up in the editorial room. Joe is a published writer of some repute and if you read the article below you will see why.

I have previously included Jim McAulay🍁in articles promoting our writers and I unashamedly do so again. Only this morning Jim's latest article came through my feed and I jumped on it before any other editor could. That was not due to me being competitive, It's just Jim makes me laugh out so loud I am almost in tears and I want that feeling as soon as I can get it.

Kelly Fox is another great story teller. Good? Well let's just say she well and truly reeled me in with the story below. I will not go into how deeply Kelly touched me, let's just say it was pretty darn deep. Take a read and learn how to tell a story. I will say no more than that.

Kevin Farran caught my eye with the article below. From the very first sentence I realised that this is a man who writes exceptionally well. Not only that, but also his social insight is bang on the button. Kevin writes so beautifully, so concise, so fluidly and so convincing and truthfully, you find yourself just sailing through his writing feeling like you are being blown softly along on a cool breeze. Debesh Choudhury is another writer who I think shows a lot of promise. What pleased me with this young man was he did his research, but he didn't overload his article with everything he had learned about penguins. He gave just enough facts to support the idea that we have a lot to learn from the natural world. That takes restraint and total control over your material. Keep writing like this Debesh and I foresee a great future for you here on Illumination, and beyond if you are determined enough.

The next writer needs no introduction from me. What can I say about a legend who has made all of this Illumination and Illumination-Curated possible? A visionary, a clear thinker, a true leader of mere mortals such as myself. And to cap it all, a brilliant writer. Ladies and gentlemen, Dr Mehmet Yildiz.

And last but not least, yours truly. Far be it from me to blow my own trumpet, but I am a bit of a hybrid here. Part newbie and part old hand. I have walked the walk beyond these realms of Illumination. Ex-newspaper journalist ex- advertising and public relations copywriter. I am by nature very eclectic in my reading habits as well as in my own writings.

Articles, short stories, poetry, song lyrics, shopping lists and to do memos. I sit at my desk to write every single day and I do not stop until I have put in a solid twelve to fifteen hours.

Call it you what you will, an addiction, dedication, obsession, whatever you call it, it is a great part of what it takes to get on in the business of writing. Don't just take my word for it, ask any of the above experienced professional writers and I am sure they will agree with me at least in that part. So, what are you waiting for?
