Some Notes on Pictures in Medium Stories after the Changes; PupperJack Out-Fragrances a Hyacinth
As only PupperJack can …
He’s been rolling in something …
He looks so sweet, too. So sweet and demure and innocent.
Ha!

The Christmas roses are lasting nicely!
And now for some thoughts on the somewhat puzzling (to me, at least) changes that Medium has recently made — well, some thoughts about the pictures in particular.

I have moaned about the Medium changes elsewhere so I won’t do it here again. However, if it’s any consolation to anyone — in the new format, there is a magnifying glass to view the pictures in a larger size, so that’s something.
Also, you can still make an impact with size if the picture is portrait format rather than landscape. It does, though, mean thinking differently when you take your photo, OR you can manipulate it afterwards.
If the following picture is landscape format:

And then I crop it to make it portrait format:

Overall, it is much bigger.
So, maybe think of taking ‘portrait’ photos more often than ‘landscape’ photos.
It seems to be because Medium has narrowed the ‘columns’ on the page to get all the other stuff down the sides, but not restricted the up and down sizes.

Then, too, if you want different sizes of picture in your article, in order to contrast with bigger pictures, you can make them smaller yourself and copy and paste them in, as above.
So, we’ve lost the handy manipulation tools that Medium provided, but we can do some messing about ourselves, if we want to.
But we might just get used to them all being the same size, centrally placed …

We can also add variation by placing pictures, as before, side by side. See above. Two or three pictures side by side.
They’re all hug pictures. Hugs for you!

My tax returns are in!!! Yayyy!!! Happy Dance!
Dennett started the Photo-a-Day Challenge to help combat the pandemic blues. (To think — this has been going for nearly two years!) She takes photos during the week, chooses the best ones, and adds some narrative.
