Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired? Try These 4 Things to Revamp Your Life
You have control over certain things, but not all things.

Mindless scrolling on Facebook, I came across a video where:
The dad was walking around the elevator with his 4-year-old son. He wanted to make the kid tired so that by the time the plane flew, the kid would be in a deep sleep.
Getting tired is okay.
Sometimes, chronic fatigue comes in the way of your growth. You feel fatigued in the office, meeting friends, and spending time with your partner. Whatever you do, don’t let your mental tiredness get in the way of things.
You only get to live one life. Don’t let it slide away. The same lesson was given to Steve Harvey by his mother:
“Sometimes, everything will stay the same once you get sick and tired of being sick and tired. — Fannie lou hamer.”
If you’re here to find ways to get out of the fatigue dungeon, below are four tips:
1. Learn to rest, not quit.
Let me clarify something:
The opposite of tiredness is rest.
Meaning if you feel mental exhaustion, take your time and rest. Take your hiatus from tasks that mentally fill you up.
Now, taking a break doesn’t mean you’re quitting. You can pause to form your:
- Relationships
- Passive work
- Routine
When we do the same tasks every day, our mind registers them.
As you drink water daily, you don’t pay attention every time you drink water. This is also known as “automated body response.”
Before your body adjusts to your routines and habits and when you start to take them for granted, rest.
Take some rest to analyze your path. Analyzing before you fall into the wrong hole is better than regretting afterward.
(Prevention before cure.)
2. Find positive ways to distract yourself.
I must credit Angelina Jolie.
In an interview, she said:
“I feel sad because someone with skills better than mine is probably living a refugee life.”
It’s true.
Most of the world has become a refuge. Everyone wants to come to established countries (USA, Canada, UK, Australia), so we all appear as refugees.
That’s not the point. The point is to see the life people are living and become thankful.
Ask yourself:
- What if you never had parents?
- What if you never graduated from high school?
- What if you have a disability?
There’s a fine line between settling for less and charging your ego.
To get a positive outlook on life, ask yourself these mindful and thoughtful questions. If you feel any ounce of positivity, do these things to distract yourself
- Volunteer
- Donate
- Help
3. Take the ultimate risk
As from the Middle East, I was highly afraid to buy new things for these reasons:
- There wasn’t any good refund policy
- People were rude
- I feel bad for returning an item
But since Covid, most of the returns are online. Most brands, like Aliexpress, give you a 90-day guarantee to test new things, and most apps give you a trial.
Use the trial opportunity to find good things around your area.
For starters:
- You can enroll in a course (2–3 weeks)
- Fitness apps (Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes)
- Update LinkedIn premium (1 month)
- Buy email marketing tools like Convertkit (14 days)
- Buy things to make your life easy (instant pot, air fryer, rice cooker)
- Painting class session
- Books to read
Many apps give you a trial.
Use this opportunity to learn more about what lies in the world beyond. Fact: When you get the trial version, the app gives 120% importance to you, so you continue the premium after the billing date.
During the trial time, you’ll feel happy and important.
Use these apps to supercharge your mind and day with new, money-proof things.
4. Keep a cookie
You have control over certain things, but not all things.
Watching Ginny and Georgia, I realized bad things could happen anytime. Therefore, you need to have a fidget item to distract yourself — distract for the time you reach home and cry on your pillow.
For that reason, I made my distraction method. Whenever I go, I take these with me:
- An evil eye bracelet (any bracelet, the watch would work)
- A brownie, cookie, chocolate, sunflower seeds
- A book
With these things, I stop myself from getting redirected and becoming angry.
Ginny, in the show, used the rubber band in her hand.
My father used a Yasin (tasbih, rosary) set with him every time. This helped my father to remember God and always stay calm during fights.
Bad things can happen at any time. Be prepared for it. Find a unique item that makes you happy and can divert your emotions. You don’t have to buy that item.
If you wish, take a deep-nose dive into your old den, find your old toys, and use them as a distractor.
Final thoughts:
- I won’t ask you to maintain a journal
- I won’t ask you to exercise
- I won’t ask you to eat healthily
We already know that what we can do to improve our lives, journaling, exercising, and eating healthy, are generic solutions.
If you’re tired of getting advice on eating healthy and journaling, maybe you need to follow the above four money-proof steps.
Don’t follow the herd.
Find your way. The abnormal herd will only bankrupt you with crypto-feeding ideas.
