4 Plain-Vanilla Ways To Kickstart Your Brain Before You Start Writing.
Writing is the language of the universe. But are you skilled enough?

Our bodies are evil, here’s how:
- Our legs and arms snooze when we sit too long in one place (e.g., the toilet)
- Our minds refuse to wake up early in the morning
- Our minds won’t shut up at night
Our minds and our body have different clocks.
According to Daniel Pink, our clocks differ according to age and maturity. Whatever our clocks are, they eventually mess up with our careers and routines.
Remember that writing doesn’t want you to sacrifice your nights like Hemmingway or sleep the whole day like Franz Kafka.
Find the right trigger points that keep your creative juices flowing. It’s not that hard.
Below are 4 simple ways to kickstart your brain before you start writing.
1. Plan the words
Secret info: I have a journal of words.
As I write every day, I sometimes lose my motivation. My mind swirls around words like “powerful” and “easy.”
For example:
- 5 powerful ways…
- 5 easy ways…
If you use these words in your titles, chances are, you’re making your titles ordinary.
Your title is the soldier that invites people to your blog. It’s like a mercenary in a war trying to guide people in the right direction.
For that reason, save words.
I have a collection of these words that I copy into my diary. Every time I run low on words, I pick up one from them.
Now, my title is:
- 5 ways to accelerate…
- 5 dynamic methods…
You see, most people worry about the content and forget about the title. But generally, your title should depict powerful, positive words.
A simple practice to do that:
- Find positive title words: go to any search engine and get a collection of positive title words.
- Copy from blogs: visit blogs and study their headlines.
- Steal from premium trails: get a premium from headlines.coschedule.com to get a list of positive words.
2. Plan ahead
I know this tip is obsolete.
But planning has more to it than we know.
When we plan, for example, 12 hours before, this allows us to recollect specific information in mind.
Before sleeping, list out 5 titles, you will write about tomorrow.
For example: 4 shortcut methods to write better.
Now, as soon as I wake up tomorrow, the shower hits the gym, and I eat breakfast, I am constantly thinking about 4 shortcut methods to write better.
Some people, although, take this tip as the reason for insomnia. But if you have insomnia, this tip is merely a distraction.
Having a title by your side ensures you think about it during your fun time. For that reason, I write titles a day before I write. The result? My writing seems manageable, and I know the content by heart. To follow this practice:
- Keep track of time: write one time each day, for example, 5 pm
- If you have any ideas, write them: if I start getting ideas, I write them on the notepad nearest me.
- Think and think: thinking may allow you to be 100% prepared for your writing before you write.
3. Chose a lifestyle
My morning is carried by gym, shower, and breakfast.
But my hard work to write starts right after I wake up. Here’s how:
- Gym music: podcast
- Shower: cold water
- Breakfast: meditation music
Having an interesting lifestyle is a trigger. The mediation music is like the mayonnaise on the top of the sandwich. Now, after the mayonnaise, the next step is a burger bun (writing).
Having the steps ensures I write in a flow. When I go to take a cold shower, I know my next steps.
Which means I do every task without thinking and with complete peace of mind.
Authors Daniel Pink and Timothy Ferris emphasize routines because we can only make confident decisions in every life. And since I have a routine, a title, and an idea, the only next decision I have to make is how I will start my article.
4. Go easy, change and shuffle
Routine is appreciated.
- Having the same routines is boring.
It’s like eating the same apple pies for breakfast.
When we have nonchanging routines, our life seems like a rat race with no fun.
For that reason, spice things up. Follow these simple methods:
- Create a niche day: just like focusing on a specific limb exercise, allot a niche for the day. For example, Wednesday for writing and Thursday for marketing.
- Stop it: you should know that having a break sometimes allows you to prepare for the writing ahead. For that, I take risks, which means writing two articles a day ago to compensate for not writing today.
- Knock: create separate routes for weekdays and average days. This way, you can insulate fun in your writing.
Remember that what you write has a direct effect on your earnings.
A reader can consume 100 articles per day, but a writer can write 100.
For that, your article needs to stand out.
Make your article worthwhile by covering the gist of (at least) 5 articles inside your post.
Give a gift to your readers for reading. How? Make it fun. How? Twist things up in your routine.
