Shocking Pink Mallow! Seafood Chowder! Why Can’t I Get My Chapters to Turn into Natty Little Boxes?

Hibiscus; Orchid; Cherry-sized apples, or apple-like cherries

This Rose Mallow is such an amazing colour! Its shocking pink glow was shouting at me from down the street, so doggo and I raced up there to take its photo.

Then I had to take a photo of the flower blooming next to it — a Hibiscus. Fabulous!

One minute it’s like winter has started, the next we’re back to summer. That’s the UK weather for you.

Seafood chowder and photos by Susan Alison

I actually cooked this week — I don’t usually — this is why it’s noteworthy — but I want to clear the freezer so I can defrost it and stock it up again for Christmas. I want to make sure I’ve got what I want for people at Christmas because we have shortages of all kinds here, including food, and apparently, it’s going to get worse. So I’m starting early.

Clearing the freezer revealed a ton of seafood. So I got in some baby potatoes and made chowder. Of course, a ton of seafood then made a ton of chowder.

I’m fed up with chowder now, but at least I didn’t have to think about meals for the rest of the week. Plus the neighbour got a bowl of it to thank him for getting the potatoes.

Meanwhile, in my bay window, this fantastic orchid is blooming away with no shouting at all. Luckily, I looked in there or I wouldn’t have known. It's probably praying for some peace, now, because I keep on popping in to make sure it’s still fab. (It is.)

We spotted this tree. The fruit looks like apples — a heavy crop of apples. But they’re only cherry sized. I guess they’re crab apples, but they really are teeny-tiny.

‘Communing with the Moon’ painting for this session by Susan Alison

I have finally finished my How to Paint in Watercolour ‘Communing with the Moon’ type picture how-to session.

Some of these sessions take AGES to get down on paper!

And I’ve started to put chapters from my best-selling novel, ‘White Lies and Custard Creams’ on to Medium but I’m finding it most frustrating that, on the chapters page I’ve also set up, the links to the individual chapters won’t turn into those natty little boxes — the first one did, but I can’t get the second to do it at all.

The page itself turns into a box, the first chapter turned into a box, but the second refuses! Please tell me what I’m doing wrong!

It frustrated me so much I had to run outside and look up through my eucalyptus tree to the sky — when I do that I can be anywhere. In this case, anywhere far away from links that won’t turn into natty little boxes!

Last year, Dennett started the Photo-a-Day Challenge to help combat the pandemic blues. She takes photos every day and chooses the best ones, adding a one-word descriptor, sometimes some narrative, to share her week with us.
