Where Did that Cat Go? and Ricciarelli — Italian Almond Cookies
Chilean Lantern Tree, Communing with the Moon Paintings, and Orchids
Crinodendron hookerianum, also known as the Chilean lantern tree (above), is, according to the Royal Horticultural Society, an evergreen shrub that grows in Chile.
It also grows in Bristol, South West UK, just around the corner from me!
Quite often, Doggo and I walk to the post box on the route that we know will take us past this shrub just so we can stare at it, all the while hoping the people in the house behind the bush don’t think we’re actually staring into their front window …

Doggo knows she’s there somewhere — maybe she’s over that way — OR — maybe she’s over this way …
OR — maybe …..

Here she is on the shed roof. Kittie is convinced, just as long as she keeps very, very still, Doggo is never going to look up …

I was sent some ricciarelli — that is, Italian almond cookies — Oh My Dog — they are absolutely, amazingly yummy! Although I felt obliged to eat them all, I did try not to eat them all in one go by freezing some of them.
I have discovered that they can thaw out awfully fast …

The orchids are blooming away in my bay window, with barely any input from me, except some admiring glances to show my appreciation.

I finally, finally got the session: ‘How to Make the Faraway look Far Away, and the close, Close’ (in watercolour) finished for my how-to paint in watercolour publication.
That’s another one I’ve been messing around with for AGES!
The next painting session on the drawing board is ‘How to Paint a ‘Communing with the Moon’ type of picture’.
I’m really hoping it won’t take so much time and agony to put together as the previous ones. It shouldn’t, in theory, because it’s painting a picture using techniques and materials we’ve already covered.

Above are examples of the type of picture we’ll be aiming for. That is: ‘I see the Moon, and the Moon sees Me’ and ‘Communing with the Moon’. I’m clearing the breakfast room so I can get all my painting stuff out again.
Last year, Dennett started the Photo-a-Day Challenge to help combat the pandemic blues. She takes photos every day and chooses the best ones, adding a one-word descriptor, sometimes some narrative, to share her week with us.
