The Big Oprah Makeover Is That She Ain’t ‘Black Oprah’ Anymore

“I want to be the Black Oprah”- Yung Miami

CBS

Who is Yung Miami? She’s 1/2 of the City Girls a hip-hop duo that is taking the music scene by storm, but to be honest I haven’t heard of the City Girls or Yung Miami until I saw Oprah trending on Twitter today.

But what does Yung Miami have to do with Oprah? She was quoted to have said this,

The next ((((BLACK)))) OPRAH!!

At first, I thought this trending topic on Twitter was my next funny story. How can it not be?

But the more I read the tweets there must be a reason why she said that, I mean the last time I checked, and there is no other way to say this,

Oprah is a black woman.

So, for Yung Miami to say what she said could only mean — she is ‘scamming’ her way into becoming a daytime talk show host, it could be political or she’s just shading Oprah to get more social media mileage.

There is no doubt she is being talked about today.

And as for ‘scamming’ it’s a word she used in her Vulture interview in 2018 when she admitted to being the biggest scammer to hit the music industry.

Everything just fell in the right place for the City Girls and they have become very popular among those who love hip-hop or rap music.

Daytime TV talk show. It is a crowded field, even Drew Barrymore has her show and it’s doing very well.

So, what does being a Black Oprah mean to Yung Miami?

Does it have to do with this story from the New York Post?

With $2.6 billion under her name, has Oprah become too rich to be counted as being ‘one of us’ in the black community? Does Oprah, who now belongs to the 1% of the 1% in America, lose her ‘black card?’

I remember a story Oprah shared many years ago, that when she was in Italy, a store refused to sell her a designer bag.

That the store clerk told her it is expensive and we all know all of that happened because the store clerk didn't recognize who she was but also because she is black.

While I may not agree with Oprah all the time, especially her being a part of the whole Prince Harry & Meghan Markle drama that must have given the Queen some heartache, Oprah paid her dues.

She worked her way to get to the top.

Oprah could easily have been a failure on Daytime TV. And yet she not only survived the competition but beat everyone else to become the first self-made black woman billionaire on TV.

Her fame and fortune weren't handed to her on a silver platter, it was all blood, sweat, and tears.

“There are white people who are not as powerful as the system of white people — the caste system that’s been put in place. But they still, no matter where they are on the rung or ladder of success, they still have their whiteness.”

The veteran broadcaster also said white people have a “leg up.” — Excerpt, Oprah labeled a ‘fraud’ for calling out ‘white privilege’ since she’s so rich

Final words

It is easy to hate Oprah today. She has been linked to Harvey Weinstein and Jeff Epstein, but all of it is just another example of celebrity conspiracy theories.

There was a time I’m her biggest fan, but being a fan doesn’t mean I like everything about Oprah, but to take away all the good things she had done through the years, doesn’t sit well with me.

Oprah is the most successful black person in America, and she deserves the respect not only of Yung Miami but of everyone who values success in America.
