Share Your Creativity — A September Monthly Challenge and A New Editor
Welcome Celeste Wilson!
Share Your Creativity was born back in May 2022. I wanted to create a publication where writers could share other aspects of their creativity beyond their writing. I am a firm believer that we are all visually creative in one way or the other. Some people are creative with how they do their hair or put on make-up. Others are creative in how they decorate their houses or style their offices.
No matter who you are, you have a style and your personal creativity is what gives you your unique look and voice in the world.
Last year I was quite active in the publication and regularly posted monthly challenges and wrap-ups of articles that were submitted. However, one thing led to the other and I found myself falling behind. It wasn’t only with this publication, it was also with another one that I run and own called Sharing Food. I’m not too proud to admit that it was too much at once and over time, I became burnt out with it all.
However, I have recently found myself inspired again and I want to put this renewed energy to good use. Therefore, I am re-instating the monthly challenge, and have decided to bring a new editor on board to help me get things amped up and organized around here.
So, without further ado, I want to give Celeste Wilson a hearty welcome as my new editor! Celeste has, by far, been the largest contributor to the publication with her myriad of articles. I love her experimental nature and the way in which she uses little scraps of many things to make some very unique artwork. She isn’t scared of trying new things and I think that is what drew me to love her stories. Plus, the more I see her work, the more I realize we truly are cut from a very similar cloth.
Here are a few examples of Celeste’s work that has been published in Share Your Creativity:
Just recently I wrote an article about Using White Ink on Black Paper. Celeste almost immediately saw it and wanted to contribute her own to the publication, which she did. Well, she didn’t exactly use white ink, but she used silver. It still had a similar effect to my experimentation.
You can see clearly that we certainly have a very similar style to our drawings.
It was because of these two articles that we have decided to name the September Monthly Challenge simply Black and White.
This art prompt is open to any visual interpretation of these two colors but please use them both.
Some guidelines to follow for your writing and art:
- No submitting profanity, nudity, or hate imagery of any kind.
- I realize that writing and poetry is creative, but there are lots of different publications for those. I would like to keep this strictly for visual creativity. I also only accept photographs that have been visually altered in an artistic way.
- You can put a link in your post to a website for purchasing your item (if relevant) but I don’t want your whole article to be a personal advertisement. Use your own discretion.
- Please consider that this publication aims to inspire people to get creative. So let’s keep it light and upbeat. No articles about ‘starving artists’ or other bad mojo, please:)
- Be nice to people’s posts. If you don’t have constructive criticism or something nice to say, don’t comment! We are here to encourage and uplift! Thank you!
- Tag your post with relevant tags like ‘creative’, ‘creativity’, ‘art’, ‘inspire’, ‘get creative’. And use ones to describe your medium such as ‘cake decorating’, ‘weaving’, ‘pottery’, ‘dancing’, etc. Also, please use the tag ‘monthly challenge’ for your prompt responses.
- Medium rules rule! Please put an appropriate title and an optional subtitle, and keep them relevant to your article.
- Please include at least one photo of your creation.
- Have fun and get creative!
This prompt is open to any sort of visual art, however, as stated above, I require that photography has been altered digitally, or otherwise, to create a unique look.
Use pens, paints, pastels, watercolors, charcoal, fabric…….anything!
Thank you for sticking around and for considering adding your creativity to the publication! Celeste and I truly look forward to reading and seeing your submissions to the monthly challenge in September and I look forward to renewed growth and excitement to come!
