Shadow at Dawn
A young heart races against fear
Word of the Day: Young!
Moonlight through the curtains, painting silver streaks on the floor.
Jess whispered, “Did you hear that?” she trembled, betraying her fear.
Tom, eyes wide, nodded.
The old and creaky house seemed to hold its breath.
Shadows danced as if mocking their fright.
“I think it’s in the hallway,” Tom mouthed, his voice lost. Jess’s heart hammered her thoughts a whirlwind of terror.
Suddenly, a floorboard groaned. They froze.
“It’s just us, young adventurers!” Mum’s warm and familiar voice cut through the darkness.
Relief washed over them, laughter mingling with lingering adrenaline.
“Bedtime, heroes,” she chuckled, a beacon in their night.
