Summary

The web content describes a "choose your own" story segment where the protagonist, having discovered a slain man in a burned village, encounters an elf archer who informs them of orcs taking prisoners to the forest, prompting a choice to either rush off alone or collaborate with the elf for a plan.

Abstract

In the aftermath of a village attack, the protagonist searches through the smouldering ruins, finding evidence of violence but no bodies. A chance encounter with an elf archer named Dara Blackfeather reveals that orcs are responsible for the abduction of villagers. The protagonist is faced with a critical decision: to ignore the elf's offer of assistance and hasten towards the forest in pursuit of the orcs, or to introduce themselves and work together to formulate a rescue plan. This interactive narrative invites readers to engage by choosing the protagonist's next move, with the option to contribute to the ongoing story through writing their own 100-word drabble or suggesting ideas in the comments. The story also provides links to previous installments and writing prompts for inspiration.

Opinions

  • The narrative suggests the importance of collaboration in overcoming challenges, as evidenced by the elf's offer to help.

Slinging the axe through your belt, you move around the smouldering house, and its neighbours.

No signs of bodies… then you see a slain man. You pick up a fallen arrow; the scent of blood.

Near the village centre, grass is trampled. Then you hear footsteps and spin around.

A slender archer dressed all in black, with a serious face. “Orcs did this,” she says. “Far ahead on my road, I saw them taking their prisoners to the forest.”

“Then I must hurry.” You fling the arrow down, ready to run.

Wait! I will help, but we need a plan.”
