ou know. Think I’ll pass.”</p><p id="13e0">“At the beach house? I’m going.”</p><p id="7377">“Oh, you are? Hmm….” She mulled it over. “In that case, I think I’m going to.”</p><p id="f039">OMG OMG OMG. What? Was she going because I was going? I got all pumped up. It was going to happen. The stage was set, and the stars were aligned.</p><p id="f854">I was about to get my first kiss.</p><p id="bc44">We made it to the island without a hitch. It was just 40 minutes away from town by ferry. Not much to go wrong there. After dinner, we left everyone and walked the mile-long sea breaker together, laughing and sharing stories about school and life, favourite candies and her love for, <i>uh</i>, stuff— this was a long time ago. I have no idea what she was into back then.</p><p id="4a1b">The Milky Way’s disk ripped across the sky above while waves glowed green with bioluminescence as they crashed softly against the sea breaker’s rocks — a perfect evening by any possible standard. Impossible to fail.</p><p id="de8f">We sat side by side at the end of the breaker under the port lighthouse as if peering into the end of the world. Gosh, she looked beautiful.</p><h1 id="308c">I placed my arm on her shoulders</h1><p id="1e0f">My heart raced as if about to explode, my face burned like wildfire, sweat formed on my forehead, and my nerves plotted to kill me with every shuddering breath when the conversation reached a natural break.</p><p id="54ba">This was the moment I had been waiting for.</p><p id="5204">You can do this<i>, </i>I told myself. I gathered my wits and scooched closer; her eyes were fixed on the seas ahead. I breathed deeply, ignored the pounding heart in my throat, and called her. She turned to face me. This was it.</p><p id="85c6">I leaned in.</p><h1 id="d7ee">My phone rang</h1><p id="b79f">I should have ignored it or tossed it into the ocean. But I answered the damned thing. It was my father asking where I was, though I don’t know why; he seldom bothered. So I told him I was with a girl, and because I was a little proud of being with a girl, I felt like sharing the news. So I asked her to say “hi” to my dad.</p><p id="b169">To. My. Dad.</p><p id="2cd4">Before our first kiss. What a dumbass. To her credit, she did.</p><p id="fdcb">Dad was immensely pleased. “That’s ma boy,” he said before I hung up.</p><p id="8324">I tucked the phone away. Her eyes were back on the horizon. I opened my mouth to call her again as my heart moved up from my throat into my brain and pounded it to mush.</p><p id="0743">And the air around us had somehow deflated. on the horizon. Why wasn’t she looking at me? Had I embarrassed her with my dad’s phone call? Oh god. I did. Shit.</p><p id="af72">No. You can still salvage this. Get a grip, man.</p><p id="a7f3">You can do this. Just say something, you fool!</p><p id="2964">And I did say something. I said, “I could really use a sneakers bar.”</p><p id="a2e7">My mind shot into an intermittent coma. I had blown it completely. She didn’t even react. I mean, what can you possibly say to that?</p><p id="0372">Short of breath, dizzy, and feeling stupid, my arm fell off her shoulders. And things got increasingly awkward after that.</p><p id="9750">Today, I understand she was probably also nervous; it was her first time, too. Except I didn’t know that back then; I was kind of an idiot — hey, I was 16, it’s expected.</p><p id="bd2d">I have no idea why I said that. We talked briefly about our favourite chocolate bars, and I did enjoy sneakers. After that night, however, I may have become more of a Mars guy.</p><p id="7257">It’s been 19 years since, and I still think about it from time to time.</p><p id="972c">It doesn’t embarrass me anymore, hence all this oversharing. It became a reminder of how, in the moment of things, one can make terrible decisions or freeze due to unfounded fears and watch helplessly as perfect opportunities get washed away.</p><h1 id="73cd">And that’s a perfect example of what life is all about</h1><p id="7afa">Failures define you just as much as successes. Scratch that. Failures and how you deal with them are what define you. As a human being, you should be constantly learning from your mistakes and growing with them. Not having them reflect who you are. That’s rubbish.</p><p id="846e">You’ll never succeed if you don’t take risks. Risks mean failure. But after failing, you make a pact with yourself — a commitment to do better next time. That’s how you evolve. That’s how you get what you need.</p><p id="22e3">Today, I have a loving wife and two amazing boys whom I love more than life itself. That’s what success looks like.</p><p id="8b66">So I don’t regret all the embarrassment I felt that night or in other missed opportunities since. If that had been my first kiss, would I still have ended up where I am today? It’s hard to tell. But I’d screw up a million first kisses again to have the life I have now.</p><p id="dcf0">Because sometimes, you really do have to eat those damned sneakers bars.</p><p id="2ceb"><i>Join me at <a href="https://subscribepage.io/mutecatmanolo"><b>Mute Cat Manolo</b></a>, a <b>free</b> newsletter with insights on how to improve your writing.</i></p></article></body>

Say Goodbye to Procrastination with ChatGPT — These Prompts Will Make You a Productivity Superstar!

Learn prompt engineering and complete your work within minutes.

Have you ever heard of prompt engineering?

It’s a new job that has emerged thanks to advances in artificial intelligence, particularly in the field of language models. As a prompt engineer, your main role is to create prompts, which are short pieces of text that guide AI models like ChatGPT to generate human-like language.

What’s interesting is that you don’t necessarily need a technical degree to become a prompt engineer.

In fact, some online sources claim that prompt engineers can earn up to $375,000 a year, which is a pretty impressive salary!

Now, you might be wondering how to get started in this field. Well, if you’re looking for some guidance on creating effective prompts, you can turn to ChatGPT itself.

In a previous post, I mentioned how ChatGPT can help you generate the best prompts for your needs. However, many readers have asked me to share some of the prompts that I personally use in my day-to-day work.

So, without further ado, here are some of the best prompts that I’ve found to be effective.

1. Explain like I’m 5

As a programmer, I often come across complex concepts that can be hard to understand at first glance. Sometimes, I have to read about them multiple times before they start to make sense.

Even there are some topics that seem so complicated that it feels like they can never be simplified to a newbie. Take quantum computing, for example — it’s an incredibly complex field that I have no knowledge about.

Thankfully, I’ve found a solution to this problem: ChatGPT.

With its advanced language processing capabilities, ChatGPT can help me simplify even the most complex topics.

And one of the best prompts that I use for this purpose is “Explain this topic like I’m 5.” This prompt is a great way to frame a question or request for an explanation in a way that encourages the responder to break down complex ideas into simpler terms.

For example, if I’m trying to understand quantum computing, I can use this prompt to ask ChatGPT to explain it to me as if I were a five-year-old child.

As you can see with the answer that ChatGPT provides, I don’t even need to rely on someone else to explain complex concepts to me. I can simply input the prompt along with the paragraph or text that I’m struggling to understand, and let ChatGPT generate a simplified explanation for me.

This has been incredibly helpful in my work as a programmer and has saved me a lot of time and frustration.

2. Expert-Level Output in Minutes

To become an expert in any field, most influencers and motivational speakers say you must spend at least 10,000 hours practicing. I agree with this statement — to become better at something, we must invest a significant amount of time and effort.

However, what if I told you there’s a way to improve your skills and produce expert-level work in minutes? That’s right, with the help of ChatGPT, you can become better in any niche and deliver work that rivals that of an expert.

Here’s how it works: provide the prompt, ‘I want you to act as a world-class [add the profession name]. I will ask you for output, and you have to give me unique, expertly written work.’

Here is an example.

From there, you can ask for whatever you need.

3. Change the writing style and elevate your writing skills

As a writer or anyone else, you may have the ability to write in a particular tone, but sometimes you may need to change your writing style, especially if a client requires a specific tone.

This can be challenging, but luckily, ChatGPT is here to help.

You simply ask ChatGPT with this prompt: “Change the writing style of the text below to [style or tone] [paste text]”

Even if you feel unsure about your English language abilities, you’re not alone. English can be a complex language with tricky grammar rules and confusing spellings.

However, ChatGPT can assist you in improving your writing skills quickly and easily. All you have to do is write what you want to say in your own words, and ChatGPT will take care of the rest.

It will detect any errors and offer suggestions on how to improve your writing, making it sound more natural and professional.

4. Learning from the best with ChatGPT

Learning from experts can be extremely beneficial, no matter what industry you’re in.

By finding the right mentor, you can acquire the knowledge and skills needed to become an expert yourself in just a few years. Fortunately, the internet has made it easier than ever to learn from experts.

For example, if you want to create YouTube videos, you can watch the videos of the top personalities in your niche to learn their tactics.

Similarly, as a content writer, you can follow expert writers in your niche to improve your own writing.

In the same way, you can ask ChatGPT to help you improve your writing skills. For instance, you can provide a sample of your writing and ask ChatGPT to critique it as if they were a specific person, giving you valuable feedback to improve your writing.

Alternatively, you can ask ChatGPT to rewrite your writing as if it were written by a particular person.

Prompt: I will give you a sample of my writing. I want you to write it as if you were [person].

This can help you learn how to write in different styles and tones, improving your writing skills even further. With ChatGPT’s assistance, you can become a better writer and excel in your chosen field.

5. Recommending and Summarizing the book

Most of the time, I enjoy reading books during my free time.

I always want to know about the best books out there, and while I can watch YouTube videos or read blog articles, I have discovered a cool trick. I can ask ChatGPT to recommend some of the best books to read on a certain topic.

Prompt: I am looking for the best books to read to learn [niche], can you recommend some of the best books?

This is how, I ask ChatGPT to suggest books on anything from romance to thrillers, finance to programming.

However, when it comes to finance books, I prefer to have a short summary of the author’s main points.

Many finance books share similar concepts, such as reducing debt, avoiding credit cards, and investing for the long term.

That’s why I rely on ChatGPT to provide me with a concise summary of the books I’m interested in, such as “Rich Dad, and Poor Dad”.

6. Write the code

As a programmer, I write a lot of code. However, I try to avoid repetition as much as possible, even though I may not always know how to achieve this.

That’s why I turn to ChatGPT for help.

For instance, I might ask, “Could you provide me with the code to create a [functionality name] functionality using [programming language]?”

As an example, here’s what I mean:

Similarly, you can ask whatever you want.

7. Solve the error

When I write code, especially when creating a website, I often encounter errors. These errors can be caused by anything from typos to incorrect logic or installation issues with packages.

The first thing that comes to mind for many people when encountering an error is to copy and paste the error into Google and click on the first StackOverflow link.

However, I have found that there is a second option that I often use: asking ChatGPT for help with a simple prompt that includes the error message.

In many cases, ChatGPT can provide the correct solution. However, if you are still unable to locate the source of the error, you can try copying your code and asking for help with the error.

Hope you like it.

That’s it — thanks.
