Writing TIPS
Save Money Use Medium -Writing and Reading Tips — Dyslexia
Reading has just got easier — it helps dyslexia
Read my work, please — NO
A student asked me to read their 20,000-word dissertation.
Wow, on my day off! Thank you. Of course, I would love to read it!
They sent it via email. So kind of them! For those of you, like me, who find reading challenging, you understand how I feel. Having dyslexia doesn’t help!
I had just finished writing a Medium article and thought, ‘Why not paste it into a Medium doc?’ Then I had another thought — wait a minute. I can paste it, create a draft email, and 🔉GET THE AI TO READ IT TO ME!🔉
Then I thought! I have all these books in PDFs. But guess what? It’s a free reading tool for me! Even though I pay for it initially, being part of the partnership program refunds the cost, making it essentially free. With this AI, I can read all those books effortlessly.
Why I like it
For me, it’s essential, as while I can read quickly, spotting errors takes time, and I might not catch most of them. Furthermore, by getting the AI voice reader to read it, I can speed it up or slow it down. I can read more! Yes!
What I did.
I grabbed the part of the text and dropped it into a Medium ‘write’. Clicked ‘Share Draft Link’ and there… I’m listening to the whole 15 minutes! Remember, it is only a draft; you do not have to publish it.
Other platforms are so expensive.
Normally, when using ‘Text to Speech’ on another platform, they offer only a measly 15 minutes for free. After that, it costs around $9.71 per month! But you know what? My little trick? Completely free! Once I’m finished, I delete it from my drafts.
I hope this clever hack proves helpful to you. It’s always great to save money and time where we can!
How to do this:
1: Open a newly ‘write’ document and paste it into the work.

2: Click the three bars.

3: Click share, and the story’s URL will come up.

4: You can click the play and listen.🔉

And that’s it!
FAQ 🔉
1: If your sole intention is to read it, there’s no need to publish the story. 2: Making changes in the draft doesn’t require generating a new URL. Simply refresh the page where you pasted the URL, and it will update accordingly. 3: There aren’t any specific rules governing this action. 4: I recommend promptly deleting the draft. Our aim is to help Medium servers run smoothly and prevent unnecessary congestion. 5: I typically input about 2K words at a time. That’s just my approach. 6: Note: You can also listen to your draft Medium stories using this same technique and publish it when you are ready — so cool! See, I created a link for this story!
