Roadside Cross

A person’s freedom takes on many forms

Photo by Jakub Sisulak on Unsplash

She rides highway ten. Her motor, burning each bend. Chrome sunglasses shine.

Ponderosa pines, mirroring concrete rivers, She dives with the wind.

Bullet spinning free. Her spirit fueling today, capturing dismay.

Proper little girl, grinning, dancing on the road. Open to the sky.

Leather chaps, steel horse, twisting through a forest course. Her long, flowing hair.

Woman’s living ghost. The road she haunts, passing trees. She takes what she needs.

She will not be tamed. A roadside cross calls her name, resting her wild force.
