You start running toward the wolf creature, axe raised. Distracting it for a bit will give you the time to at least help Scruff get to safety.

As soon as you make your intentions known, the monster leaps into the air and lands behind you. A sharp pain pierces your body as a large claw perforates your back from the neck to the core.

Your screams scare Scruff, and make him leave his hiding place and run.

“Be careful, buddy,” is the last thing you say as the monster claws at you. Again and again. Until you stop feeling pain.

You died.
