Summary

The web content describes an interactive, collaborative "choose your own adventure" story where the protagonist, hardened by a game of death, is currently in a struggle with an assassin and must decide whether to offer a figurine in exchange for life or to fight back by kicking the assassin.

Abstract

The provided text is part of a serialized, interactive narrative titled "DRABBLE STORY ARC #1: UNTIL LUCK RUNS OUT," specifically the chapter "Putting Up a Fight." This chapter continues the story "You Are Dead," a collaborative project initiated by "Bradan Writes Stories" and contributed to by various authors. The protagonist, after surviving a game of death, is now engaged in a life-or-death confrontation with an assassin. Despite being pinned down at the edge of a ravine, the protagonist uses a figurine as leverage, threatening to destroy it if the assassin attempts to deliver a killing blow. The reader is presented with two choices to influence the story's outcome: negotiate with the assassin by offering the figurine for one's life or execute a defensive maneuver by kicking the assassin. The narrative invites further contribution from readers, encouraging them to add new chapters or start their own stories within the "Choose Your Own Adventure–Collaboration" community on Medium. Additionally, the author of this chapter, presumably "Judicious Jann," promotes their other fictional works and offers ways for readers to support their writing through subscriptions, Medium membership, or donations via Ko-fi.

Opinions

  • The narrative suggests that the protagonist has developed courage and resilience through previous experiences, as indicated by their willingness to fight despite the odds.
  • The assassin is portrayed as highly trained and dangerous, yet the protagonist's resourcefulness and strategic use of the figurine introduce a dynamic of power and negotiation.
  • The interactive nature of the story emphasizes the importance of reader engagement and decision-making in shaping the narrative's progression.
  • The author values community contribution and reader participation, as evidenced by the invitation to contribute to the story or start new ones.
  • The author promotes their other works and encourages support for their writing, indicating a desire for recognition and possibly a career in writing.
  • The use of a real-world platform like Medium for story contribution suggests a blend of digital interactivity with traditional storytelling, appealing to a modern audience accustomed to participatory media experiences.

This is a continuation of You Are Dead, a Choose Your Own Adventure Story — Drabble Edition started by Bradan Writes Stories. Find out how to contribute here, or return to the previous chapter: Defying the Assassin.

You pull one of the knives out of your thigh and throw it, hitting the assassin in the shoulder.

“Aaah! You got courage. I’ll make this quick.”

Death’s game hardened you. Unwilling to yield, you put up a fight when he throws himself at you. You got another knife and rocks all around you. But whatever you try, you lack the assassin’s training. He pins you down with his right hand at the edge of a ravine.

When he raises his left hand, holding a dagger, you hold the figurine over the ravine.

“Ha! Kill me, and this is lost!”

You decide to…

  1. …offer him the figurine in exchange for your life.
  2. …kick the assassin in the nuts when he tries to grab the figurine.

This is a collaborative story, and you can add a chapter with an alternative path, or a whole new story of your own if you like! Come join us at Choose Your Own Adventure–Collaboration to contribute, or check out the examples below.
