Poetry: The Stone
About Love
About love
* Translation- I am from the Caribbean. ‘Me dash me foot’ is the Caribbean dialect for stubbing a toe or foot.
… I dash my foot against a stone*
felt pebbles in my shoe
then i thought of you and my heart broke too
throat smashed with your words
that hurt
but i can walk now
this too shall pass
i will never forget the pain of my foot
you were the stone
…why did it take so long for me
to see
that you were perfect for me
now these bare branches of time
are wrinkled across your face
when you smile at me
I wish i knew
you meant no harm
