This is a continuation of The Burned Village, a ‘choose your own’ fiction story, “drabble edition,” initially created by JF Danskin. Check out the previous installment by JF Danskin here, or find out how to contribute by clicking here.

Scruff leads the way through the forest, followed by Bruno and Dara. You bring up the rear, axe in hand.

You can smell smoke on the wind, and see a glow in the distance. As the group moves closer, the outlines of orcs sitting around a fire become clearer.

Bruno moves up as close as possible, then whispers for Scruff to heel. From the darkness of the forest, you can see at least ten orcs on a riverbank, bonfire in their midst.

“We can trap them against the river if we split up,” Bruno whispers. “Who will you go with?”
