Pink, Red, Dead
Beautiful
I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don’t notice it. ― Alice Walker
Pink
As I focused on the fall colors and bare trees with no colors, I almost walked by the color pink in a yard somewhere and didn’t notice it. I am glad that I somehow noticed it, I wouldn’t want any hard feelings.

Breathtaking beauty. Velvety soft, damp with dew.
Red
Then, on my next stop, vibrant red.

But, actually, one wasn’t so vibrant.

Then, I wondered, why are we fascinated by the shades of dying leaves but experience indifferent or even adverse feelings for dying flowers?
Dead
That brought me inside to the cut flowers on my kitchen table. Normally I would take the rose out of the arrangement first because roses always die first. This one was ready to be removed.

Upon closer inspection, why is this no longer considered beautiful? Just because it is upside down? Just because the colors have changed shades? Just because of the increasingly crispy texture?

Beauty is ours to determine. I kept this rose right where it was, in the center of the arrangement, and enjoyed this part of its life.

How much different is this dropped rose petal from a leaf that falls in the forest when the summer has faded away? How much different is this than my own aging skin? Beauty is ours to determine.
Beautiful Bow
Now, I will watch in awe as these beauties take their final bow of the season.

Thanks for reading. I hope everyone gains perspective from observing nature.
My other ponderings of the role of decay in the cycle of life and the parallels between the beauty of flowers and the uniqueness of each and every human.
