Philadelphus — Mock Orange — Everywhere
What a glorious fragrance in the streets!

Crumpled, dark-pink flowers — cistus x purpureus — form a great backdrop to a very large white clematis. (above left)

Diascia Breezee Plus ‘Apricot’, also known as Twinspur — seems a really great plant for containers. It’s one of those colours that’s ‘in-between’ other colours — there seem to be many ‘new’ colours of this sort coming out now in flowering plants.
Including the rose on the right above.

I spotted this tin elephant hiding in a tall shrub. So now I’m wondering what the story is. Maybe it’s a good luck token. Maybe it was found in the street and put up there for its owner to find. Or maybe it’s a message to someone …

And here’s another mysterious door. There are a few around the place. I have no idea where this one leads. Maybe to Narnia.

Out on the main road — that’s the A38 that goes right through the middle of the city — many of the shops have plants outside, which is great. Above left is a heuchera (also known as Coral Bells), one of my favourite plants — there are so many variations of it and it’s very tough. It will even stand up to the slugs here in Slug Central.
Above (middle photo) is a display of the doorside tiles in the tile shop. These are copies of original Victorian designs. The shop stocks them to replace the originals that are found just inside the porch of many of the houses around here.
Around the side of the tile shop — above right — graffiti artists take the opportunity of a previously blank wall to send out messages to save the planet and the creatures upon it.
‘Extinction is forever’. It is, indeed.

My new webstore — above screenshot — hasn’t got a lot further on this week — I had to stop yelling at it last week to do some actual work that helps pay the bills. But I’m back to it again this week — mainly to get some paperbacks up there for sale.
Gosh — that sounded easy: ‘get some paperbacks up there for sale’ — ha!!!
Here’s what PupperJack thinks about all that:

Above left — What do you think, PupperJack? What do you reckon to Susan’s continuing attempts to get her webstore running properly?
PupperJack — Don’t ask me about Susan’s new store. What store? I’m not saying anything about any store. In fact, I’m saying nuffink. Nuffink!
Above right — No, really , though — what do you reckon, PupperJack?
PupperJack — Oh, all right — if you insist — it’s rubbish! It’s all rubbish! Rarrrr … Rarrr … Rarrr …
It’s very hot here just now. Very hot. Too hot.
Doggo:
Here i am chillin’ in my hammock. I’m hopin you’re willin’ to be dynamic and bring me a cocktail.
You’re my pal, and I’m hopin’ to prevail upon you to boost my morale by the wholesale provision of snacks.
I’m a doggo. I deserve it. In my hammock, or in my pool - either will do.

I’m trying to get my next novel finished — I love the helter-skelter of the first draft, but am not so fond of the painstaking editing afterwards. (above left)
So I’ve not got any painting done this week, but I did find a picture in the depths of my computer that hasn’t surfaced for a long time, so I’ve brought it forth into the light. (above right)
Keep cool until next time!
