Summary

The undefined website features a contribution to the "Never-Ending Poem" project, with the author reflecting on themes of hope, desperation, and perseverance inspired by the sunset, and inviting other poets to join the collaborative poetry initiative.

Abstract

The website content presents a poetic reflection titled "Only One," which is part of the "Never-Ending Poem" project initiated by Martin Rushton and continued by various contributors, including the author of this piece. The poem captures the emotional shift from the hope of dawn to the desperation of dusk, with a personal narrative of an unlucky day and the anticipation of a challenging night. The author, thrilled by their participation in the project, provides links to their previous contributions and to the original call to the never-ending poem. The piece culminates with an invitation to ten other poets to contribute to the poem with a new prompt, "Perform," and to continue the chain by tagging more poets, expressing the enjoyment and community aspect of the project.

  • The poem implies the importance of collective creativity and the joy derived from contributing to a larger artistic endeavor.
  • By tagging specific poets, the author shows appreciation for the work of their peers and a desire to foster a supportive network of writers.

Only One

A Never-Ending Poem Response — Prompt: Sunset

© Dennett — 2016-Mount Dora, Florida

Dawn brings hope, Dusk desperation.

I hear the sun’s last gasp, sinking out of my world.

My day was unlucky, and night is long.

Stomach whimpers and whispers keep trying.

One fish, only one, to sustain us until dawn.

I am thrilled to again participate in the Never-Ending poem! This time I was invited by Ravyne Hawke:

And, it was Martin Rushton who started this chain poem:

Here are my previous Never-Ending poem responses:

How about you — want to play? I am tagging 10 poets here for my new Never-Ending Poem prompt Perform. If you want to participate, write a poem for the prompt and publish it anywhere you want (please tag me) and create a new prompt for 10 more poets.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my participation in this chain poem and think you will, too!
