Not Far
My favorite place — a Never-Ending Poem Response

It isn’t far — no train, plane, or car required — just steps
A path to a lake or a path to a dream, one I couldn’t imagine
A cozy home, an inviting porch, my sanctuary

I once wanted Paris, dreamed of Italy and Greece, Barcelona and Madrid
Now, I need nothing more than a porch, those steps, a lake

And, our family of ducks on golden waters and silhouetted branches

New lives as ours age, finding joy in the growth that shines around us

And, the peace of knowing my favorite place in all the world is home.
This is my second round of the Never-Ending Poem and I was honored to be asked to the dance by Elisabeth Khan. Her challenge was “my favorite place on earth (real or imagined)”:
My first response to the Never-Ending Poem was to a Music prompt by Suryatapa:
And, now, it’s my turn to tempt 10 poets with a new prompt, which will be . . .
Gloaming
Come join the dance:
Lynne Nardizzi, Urszula Humienik, Kathy Jacobs, wistfulwanderer, A. Christine Myers, Brian Fehler, Wild Flower, antoinette nevitt, guérin, Crystalclearcandace
This is how it works: write a poem on my theme of Gloaming and then come up with a new prompt and tag 10 poets — tada, the Never-Ending Poem!
