Only Misfortune
A poem on a unique outlook on life
“You think the world is beautiful but you don’t belong in it- Ah- what a strange human being. ‘Oh brave new world, that has such people in it!’” “The Tempest.” “Normally people blame the world or themselves for their misfortunes.” “Then don’t consider my case as normal.” “Who do you blame?” “There’s no blame, only misfortune.” “An example of said misfortune?” “Being ridiculed my entire life due to my fundamental nature; being so incompetent at being around others that I can’t even approach the people I care about most; being so madly in love with the world and the people in it that it hurts to know that I’m not anything like them; having to always pretend.” “I’m sorry to hear that. Is there anything I can do?” “No, we all have unfixable flaws- mine are just more like faults, cutting too deep, all over my skin like a cracked mirror too broken to be classed as one.” “I see.”
