PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
October Ends With a Golden Bang
Week 65 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
All things are coming to an end. This week not only October came to an end but the German skydiving season as well. It has been an amazing one. Not really because of the weather since this year’s summer was rather average but because of my progression in the sport.
This last weekend was my last one in the air. At least in Germany for this year. I hope I’ll get back up in the air this year still. Maybe in some warmer climate. Things are looking good but let’s stay calm and see what happens.
I didn’t realize how quickly it is getting dark this late in the season. We went for an afternoon walk in the forest enjoying the pretty fall colors when my husband started saying we must head back now because he can barely see the ground anymore and doesn’t want to trip and fall.
When we got out of the forest I saw this last light of sunshine on the horizon. Even the street lights had gone on already. Surely time to get back home.

At first, it didn’t look like we would get in the air today. The fog was lying on the ground. At 2 p.m. still. But just about an hour later the dense fog had lifted and we got to do our work after all.
Yeah, I was upside down after exiting the plane. Then I rolled over to make sure I’m right way up again. All fun and games it’s my job, haha. My passenger surely had a great time and thinks that backflip of ours was totally intended. Or was it a front flip? Can’t remember.

Saturday. The sky gods weren’t with us today. Morning fog until midday. Then rain until sunset. No sun means no work for us. Therefore we just stayed in the house, relaxing on the couch.

This is my last picture from my office job in the air I’ll be sending you this year from Germany. It was the last day of the season. And it was an amazing one. We had blue skies, sunshine, warm temperatures, and lots of happy clients.

November has arrived. All gray in gray. But that didn’t stop us from going on an extended walk through the forest. Late fall still had lots of green to offer while a solid bed out of leaves was covering the forest floor already.
We were walking around the mountain reaching the edge of the forest where we got this pretty view across the valley. On the opposite hill, one can spot vineyards and the next village. Even some blue sky poked through the cloud layer.

There are a few rose bushes surrounding our terrace. These pink flowers have been blooming from April until November. It’s incredible. Every month, every week, and every other day there was at least one flower head blooming.
Pink really isn’t my color. But they still intrigued me every other week to take a picture of them. Today I was attracted by these two rose flowers next to each other. The one on the left must have experienced the first frost of the season and dried off. The one on the right only opened up a day later which saved her from the frost.

It’s clearly November. Rainy all day. And cold. Single digits.
Another rose for another day in November. I got this one at the end-of-season party when we did our last jumps. I carried it in my winter cap all evening and only put it into the water once I got home. Three days later, she’s still shining!

This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome everyone! Dennett was the one starting this photography challenge sometime last year and many have participated ever since.
