Poetry Prompt: Taking a Moment

Finally, time to care for myself.

I shut down and put all my worries on the lowest mental shelf. I let my vision become blurry, and that holds clarity in itself.* I’m not in any type of hurry, except for hurrying to my bed.

I do want to talk to you, but right now I need to talk to me. I need to look at the world in a dark hue with no saturation while drinking tea. So once in a while, out of the blue, I’ll ask you to just let me be.

I have been suppressing quietly disordered thoughts all day, so I let the chaos come out entirely, and I figure it out till I’m okay. I need the time to deal with my anxiety then I can invite peace to stay.

* These lines literally refer to me taking my contact lenses out, I felt it sounded weird. 😂 But it’s just that — at the end of the day when I let myself not being able to see that’s the time I let myself finally rest.

The lovely Lucy The Eggcademic (she/her) provided the inspiration with this lovely prompt. Thank you! ✨

And I was immensely affected and inspired by the words of the talented Deborah Krulicki today, so please give this piece a read! 💖

And I mean, you’re already here soooo…
