The 3 X 3

I have now joined the not so exclusive club of people that have had Covid. I count myself among the 400 million and I am sure some of you reading this have also been infected. Luckily, my symptoms are light and I am still able to get stuff done, though I’m stressed about self-quarantining, and not being able to go to the gym or get on a train.

One good thing about having to stay home is that I have time to discover new writers and read their amazing stories. This week, I am sharing stories from Kim Byrne, Steve Sponsellor, and one of our new editors at the ILLUMINATION family of publications, Brooklyn Muse.

Kim Byrne’s stories will help you focus on personal discovery. They are not quick hits, so grab your favorite beverage and immerse yourself. Here are three that have me thinking deeper.

Her story Before Responding to Criticism, Ask This One Question is a good primer for thinking about your values and what guides your life.

Why It’s Important to Honor Every Loss explains why loss provides the opportunity for change and that, “rather than patching the roof or replacing a window, the rebuilding must begin at the foundation. We first need to identify the loss — within ourselves.”

In Everyone Needs a Life Metaphor, she shows us how to create a simple comparison for our lives. This makes it easier to identify with common experiences.

Steve Sponseller writes about business topics. Discovering some of his posts in the last few weeks has reminded me that Medium has great content in many areas. We need to use search, click on writers whose comments we like and find other ways to get beyond the content in our regular feeds.

A Fun Way to Create an Innovation Culture in your Business provides new ideas for brainstorming that you might find useful.

A Valuable Innovation Lesson from a Small Pizza Shop explains how we can serendipitously discover new ideas by stepping back and thinking outside the box about the user experience.

How to Create a Flood of Innovative Ideas draws on experiences from Steve’s long business career to show how you can embrace bold concepts and act on novel suggestions.

Brooklyn Muse writes thoughtful poetry that provides moments for reflection, smiles and self-discovery.

I Live in a Treehouse tells of finding the ideal life.

While, Life Before/After has us considering how our lives stretch across time and space.

I Would Like To Thank… is a poem of gratitude. Consider it a good example of the ways we can find things to be grateful for every day.

That being said, I am grateful you took the time to read this story and for you checking out these writers. Thanks for reading and have a fantastic week.

John
