New Beginnings
You can start over today, any day, without waiting for January 1st.
Are you in constant survival mode? Are you ready to sweep the past under the rug? Starting over doesn’t mean forgetting all you’ve been through but instead seeing it now as a history book you finished. You can’t change your truth in it but can reflect on what carried you to each new day.
Create your own adventure
You have a choice to begin anew with a make your own adventure series life version. Does anyone remember the classic “Pick Your Own Adventure” books? You are visibly present in the action of the story, with each chapter offering a jump point where you must choose:
- Change direction
- Solve a dilemma
- Make a decision
- Stay in the same direction
You can alter the outcome of your story by your choice. Just as in life, we can’t re-write our story, but we can continue choosing and re-set our lives by the path we take.
I shared this analogy in my family Christmas letter last year while suffering the continual side effects of life interrupted, as we all did. Our adventure chapters will all be uniquely different and can last a day, week, month, or incrementally minute by minute as mine did often this year. We can pick a direction and path we will follow. We can choose our story even out of crisis and see the transition.
We can’t flip through the pages in each of our life stories and peek at those last pages first. We must make the choices. If you don’t see a good option for you, then write your own, and it will lead to a place unexpected or dreamed about for so long you gave up on it being a choice till now. Let’s be a vibrant part of how our story ends.
Our new beginnings
We get to fall apart. Use all your available options to get back up and jump to the next adventure or stay on the same path to solving your dilemma as new circumstances arise. Life stirs deep and meaningful emotions in us. Embrace that part of your story.
We write stories of strength and survival with our resounding spirits with directions to choose for hope and courage. God hears our cries and Alleluias. He mourns all our losses and promises His Eternal Comfort, Peace, and Life beyond this picture, this story.
Thank you for taking the time to read. Please enjoy one of my recent poems.
