How do you write a movie review?

Watch a movie. I love watching movies, except that there was a time when I felt any time away from the computer is time wasted.

Write, write, write.

And if that isn't enough, write more.

I slowed down a bit, and when there are days when I feel I have nothing to write, I give in to the feeling as the song goes.

This year, I watched a few movies where else but on Netflix, thanks to my Netflix subscription, courtesy of my cousin.

All the movies I watched became my writing prompts, a tip for any writer here looking for writing inspiration, it is everywhere.

But inspiration is one thing, learning how to write a movie review is another thing.

I did my best as with my other stories, with good storytelling. I would never have the heart to say how bad a movie is, because I did a few movies as a movie extra, and one movie I appeared in is streaming on Netflix.

Finishing a movie is hard, and to most filmmakers, it is their art, so be kind, especially to the new filmmakers.

How much is the subscription for Netflix?

There are rumors that soon you have to pay more for your Netflix subscription, it is anywhere from $9.99 to $19.99 and soon Netflix will be strict with sharing your Netflix login passwords with people outside your households, OUCH!

So, when I checked my trending story for the month, I already earned $20.53 from it, which means my Netflix subscription is paid for, and it only took one movie review.

I said to myself,

‘Imagine if I do more movie reviews, and the thought of watching movies all day is like a day in paradise.’

But there is no guarantee that readers would read my movie reviews, there are 9,300 other Medium writers who write movie reviews.

And the other movie reviews I wrote didn’t get as many readers, I can only attribute it to the change I did in delivering my review of ‘ Pieces of Her.’

Some appreciated it, some didn’t and some read it without realizing it is a movie review of Netflix’s limited series Pieces of Her.

What I did was to change I write the title for my movie reviews, you can check it for yourself.

Daughter Finds Out Her Mother Is Lying to Her for 30 Years

Everything starts with the headline, and I’m still learning. If you need some inspiration, go and read this article from Hogan Torah about using a headline analyzer.

So there a better headline did the trick, and publishing it on ILLUMINATION helped me with the views.

I also managed to get a few good reviews.

I watched it and it’s mesmerizing. You did it justice here so thank you.

I know I have a sick mind but this gave me pure joy!

In conclusion, I celebrate the wins and learn from the losses. It is the only way to keep on growing as a writer.

What I learned is that if I put more effort into analyzing what my readers want, I can craft stories for them.

Watching movies is a great stress reliever, a ‘me time’ to let your imagination go run wild, your time off away from writing. Writing movie reviews could bring in the money, enough to pay your Netflix subscription, a money-saving tip that comes in handy especially when all our subscriptions add up, don’t get me started with my Amazon prime subscription.

Thank you for reading.
