WRITING

Day 14: Do you have a writing buddy? Human or pet, tell us about them.

By writing buddy bestie

Do I have a writing buddy? I have the bestest writing buddies. Also know as my bestest bestie. Haha. You get the point.

We met over words — at a writer’s meetup we both went to every week. Somehow, and quite honestly, I’m still not exactly sure how because we were both a little shy about it, we revealed to each other that we spoke to our characters.

Suddenly, neither of us was a weirdo. Or at least, we could be weirdos together. That was… I don’t even know, a few years ago (a few NaNoWriMos ago). Now, if we don’t hear from each other every day, we assume the other is in a state of mental death and bombard them with messages and memes to let them know their mental death is valid and wait for them to re-enter existence.

You should check out their work!

We’ve been through a lot of words together. We’ve done write nights, writing weekends, she’s travelled interstate to wherever I am housesitting to spend days writing, we attended the 20 Books conference together, we’ve played DnD together, we talk to each other’s characters (and sometimes, our characters talk to each other through us), we’ve planned and failed so many things together, hahaha. We’ve done writing sprints, book planning, character development… You name it, if it’s book-related, we’ve probably at least played in it. And we have a podcast together that is now in its second season.

I recommend it.
