“I don’t see the world completely in black and white. Sometimes I do.”
– Benicio Del Toro
I consider myself the farthest from a black and white thinker besides my wedding day!
I felt like a princess as I walked down the aisle to say, “I do.” We took many pictures, too. I felt like I was dreaming.
We had an early dinner planned for the evening. My husband, daughter, and I went back to the room to freshen up, when the colorful story began. Or fifty shades of anger was more like it!
We used the escalator at the resort to go upstairs. We were having a fantastic time together; singing this song:
As we reached the second floor, some family members were waiting for us. It was over twenty years ago. Yet it seems like yesterday when my sister informed me I had a black stain going up the back of my dress.
Unfortunately, the resort had the escalator repaired, and I had black grease up the back of my dress. It was as if the resort walls started to breathe heavily, and I was ready to faint from anger. The walls seem to form a tunnel straight to our room.
My sister and I tried everything possible to remove the stain. Like toothpaste, hairspray, fingernail polish remover, and not even a budge. Why, whenever I wear white, do things end colorfully? In this case, black and white!
I wonder if I would have worn pink if I could have avoided this catastrophe?
It never fails whenever I wear white; it’s like a canvas for colors of the rainbow to join in. From wine to orange juice, mustard, salsa verse, blueberries, blackberries and not to forget that lovely shade of passion fruit.
Hey, did you know that you can make vibrant colored dyes for decorating eggs for Easter with many foods?
Do you enjoy coloring eggs? We built a bonfire a few years ago and set up a card table outside and had a blast decorating eggs with the amazing colors of the rainbow. We even had a colorful light up egg hunt last year! Do you think you might give egg coloring a whirl?
I’m glad these gorgeous eggs are a delightful distraction in my mind luring me away from the memory of the stain on my wedding dress.
Life throws us some discouraging moments but it’s what we do next that matters most. We had a lovely dinner with a beautiful celebration of our marriage together.
I want to share a lovely poem by Trista Signe Ainsworth that always uplifts my spirits when hitting a rough batch in life:
