My Top iPhone Apps
Communication, Creating and Staying Safe
I wrote an article on Substack recently about my favourite paid apps; the ones that I spend my money on.
In this story, I thought I would tell you about the apps that I use on a daily basis, on my iPhone.
I’ve broken them down by category. These are not the only apps I use, but the ones I use all the time.
Web
Communication
- Spark (Email)
What’s not to like about this. It’s free and integrates beautifully with other apps, such as Apple Reminders, Todoist, Google Drive, Pocket and many many more.
- iMessage
Calendar, Tasks, Notes
This is, as the name suggests, a fantastic calendar app. Find out more at the link, and I’ll be posting my own review soon.
- Apple Reminders
- Apple Notes
Reading
This is my ‘read later’ app and love that I can just dump stuff in here to read at my leisure
- Pocket Casts (Podcasts)
I’ve been a Pocket Casts user for years. It’s a terrific podcast app with a whole bunch of flexibility and customisations to make it work the way you want.
Writing
I’ve written about this one before. It’s brilliant for distraction-free writing
I started to keep a journal in January 2021, and this app does everything (and more) to maintain my thoughts and memories.
Utilities
- LastPass* (including the LastPass Authenticator)
Online security is so, so, important. I can’t stress enough how we need to take care of our passwords, to prevent the unthinkable.
Using a write-on/wipe-off notepad to make notes. It’s my way of trying to reduce paper usage. It’s a good start.
It’s my Twitter scheduling tool. The free version is just enough to set posts for the future.
It’s a weather app, and I’ve tried using the stock Apple app, and I’ve used the BBC Weather app, but nothing comes close to the design and functionality of CARROT.
Health & Fitness
My doctor suggested Intermittent Fasting to help me control my diabetes. This app is perfect for helping me to manage that.
The apps indicated with an asterisk (*) are those that I pay for, and in every case, it’s an annual subscription. They are the ones that I feel are worth the money for the benefit received.
I must thank ldstephens for giving me the inspiration for this post.
