My third month with daily posts on medium is coming to an end. Here is my interim report
On the first of September, I started to take my work on Medium really seriously. Today I am writing about what has happened since then.
I published my first article on Medium in March 2019. In the following months, it was between two and twenty-two articles per month. Most of them, however, were old blog articles that I had reworked for Medium.
I mainly used this time to get information about writing on media in Facebook groups and by reading articles.
I wanted to understand how those who succeed here do it, and not make all the mistakes that others before me made.
On the first of September, I decided to publish a new article every day. Also, I have brought my own publication to the start. I called it “The Full Time Writer.”
So, what progress have I made so far?
The months before I really got started
Views, Reads, and fans
In February, I published a single article. It brought me exactly one fan, five views, and four reads.
In March, there were 54 fans, 364 views, and 202 reads. I thought, if this goes on like this, I have a rosy future ahead of me. However, it was also clear to me that I could not expect any linear growth over the next few months.
In fact, April ended with about the same numbers as of March. From mid-May, however, the figures suddenly went up.
I reached 165 fans, 4672 views, and 1918 reads. May was the month in which I posted 22 articles. This was the first proof to me that the number of articles published was actually directly related to the success that can be achieved on this platform. So the experts were right: Write more, then you will gain more.
But since I was much less active in June, my numbers almost halved compared to May. It became clear to me that at some point, I had to start investing really continuous work in my medium presence.
But I wasn’t there yet. My Kindle business required a lot of work from me at that time, and the holiday season was coming up.
In July, when I didn’t publish anything at all, all the figures collapsed utterly. But they didn’t go back to zero. I still got fans, views, and reads every day despite being completely inactive.
In August, I published twelve articles and started my publication. My numbers recovered to the level of June. As soon as I had the first follower of “The Full Time Writer,” I used the Letter function every Friday to inform my followers about new articles.
I was now ready to take the next step.
September to November
The very first month with daily posts confirmed my expectations. At the end of September, I could gain 236 fans with 2072 Views and 1111 Reads.
In October, it went even better. 3407 Views, 1793 Reads, and 416 Fans. That was the moment when I was convinced that I would be able to earn more than 100 dollars next month for the first time.
Unfortunately, this hope was not confirmed. Although the numbers of the last two days in November are still missing today, the numbers have fallen again compared to the previous month.
So far, I have reached 3111 views, 1427 reads, and only 294 fans.
Actually, that would be a reason for a bad mood, but as you will see soon, I will not earn less in November than in October because of the new payment system.
Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out to be the hoped-for 100 dollars, but the result isn’t bad.

outlook
I am cautious when it comes to forecasting my further development on Medium. However, I hope that I will finally break through the 100 dollar mark in December or at the latest in January.
I’m not planning any further. But I will stay with the daily posting and further expand my followers, both on my profile and in my publication. One day, I am confident that this will inevitably lead to my earning four figures a month.
Whether this will be in the next year, or whether I need longer, is not essential for me.
I continue to focus on the long-term potential of Medium. I simply continue to work on my success every day, and one day I will harvest the fruits. Indeed, I don’t need more to stay motivated and to invest the necessary work.
My best wishes go out to all of you out there who write their souls out of their bodies every day. Never stop!
