My Review of Stories by Tim Maudlin
Illumination’s neighbor and his creative articles
As I celebrate 3 months on Illumination, I want to take this time to celebrate and honor the man that brought me to this fabulous publication — Tim Maudlin.
It was as we entered SIP that Tim entered into my life. My business coach Thomas Anderson directed me to Tim and JeffHerring.com, as two brilliant men who have a program on how to navigate the Medium platform. Time home gave me time to spend virtually with these men — and learn. Tim had just been invited by Dr Mehmet Yildiz to join Illumination and the rest as they say is history…
As I share Tim’s stories, I start from older to most recent.
I start with Tim’s bio for those not familiar with him. It is here we learn that Tim not only tells stories with words but through art. This led him to tell the stories of buildings all over the world as an architectural illustrator. Ever hear of the Mall of America and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway? Tim had the privilege to work on those projects.
This next story was written about one week into lockdown. As we faced uncertain times, Tim reminded us of some other times in history that were also filled with uncertainty. And how Tim’s friend Audrey reflected on the attack of Pearl Harbor: “We came together.” There was a resolve in the country. That resolve carried them through that crisis and beyond.”
I include this extremely inspirational piece — which is very timely in our world today. How many of us have been professionally affected by the virus? Tim has spent the last year reinventing himself — something many of us are now in the process of. Tim faced it with gratitude and the attitude of “Could it be that rejection led to something much better?”
How do you begin to move forward? Tim gives tips if you are afraid of failure, don’t know where to start, or feel you need permission to even begin. Tim shares a quote that he loves — and I do too: I know you say you don’t know what to do but pretend for a moment that you actually do. What would you tell yourself to do first? Do it! This is one of many great quotes interwoven in this story.
Here is another inspirational piece as Tim shares how we either help or hinder ourselves. If you find you are hindering yourself, Tim shares that: The good news is, if we are the cause of our cages, then we also hold the keys to unlocking them. LOVE this!! And he then explains how.
Tim took a prompt from a fellow writer friend of our’s Rasheed and shared an inspiring story of his time during lockdown and on Illumination: “ILLUMINATION is not a normal publication. I have met so many writers who have become friends. Given this period of isolation, the timing could not have been better to become a part of such an engaged community”. I believe we can all agree with this!
And recently shared this experience of his time on Illumination with fifty days of stories (sharing some links) and adds another very inspirational quote: “Jot down the thoughts which come to you from everything you read. Take these thoughts and build stories around them: “human interest” stories that will serve as attention-getters. There is practical value in all of this”. ~Napoleon Hill
In this last article, Tim ended by sharing: “A special thank you to Dr. Yildiz and all of the wonderful writers in ILLUMINATION. I appreciate your support in claps, shares, comments, and private messages. I hesitate to name all of you here for fear I would leave someone out. I will leave you with my personal mantra to inspire you.#DoWhatYouCanNow”.
As Tim shares his gratitude, I feel we can all relate!
Thank you, Tim, for all your guidance and your time helping me and others as we find our voices. I am extremely grateful to be on this journey with you and honored to also consider you a friend.
Until next time ~
Sending you light, love — and the joy of sharing Tim’s creative work.
Be Well,
