BIO | INTRODUCTION | CONNECTIONS

Hi Neighbor!

Greetings from Tim Maudlin, your neighbor in Indiana.

Me with one of my hiking buddies, Remi.

Many years ago, I was at my Uncle’s house when his friend, Mr. Tash stopped by. Mr. Tash was an older gentleman. When he got out of his car, he said to me, “Hi, neighbor!”

I thought that it was strange for him to call me neighbor because we lived at least 8 miles apart! Why would he call me neighbor? It was years later before I understood what the concept of a neighbor really meant.

In this era of social media, people are more connected than ever. Whether we share time zones or you’re on the other side of the world, allow me to introduce myself by first saying, Hi neighbor!

Hemlock Falls, one of my favorite hiking places, less than an hour from my house. If you’re ever in my neck of the woods, check it out.

I’ve been a storyteller all of my life. First, with pictures scribbled on my Grandma’s wallpaper as a toddler. She didn’t scold me but proudly showed my art to her friends.

My love of art led me to tell the stories of buildings all over the world as an architectural illustrator. Ever hear of the Mall of America and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway? I had the privilege to work on those projects. Pictured below is an example, the Auditorium at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Another canvas for telling my stories is T-Shirts. From natural disasters to terminal illnesses to domestic violence, I have found that T-shirts can be an integral component of healing, encouragement, and inspiration.

Some of my favorite designs.

Storyteller

The second sample story involves a very difficult day in my life. I Thought I Had Just Killed My Boys!

Template Architect

The third sample story is about my last handshake with a dear friend. To make my storytelling easy, I use templates. This template is my favorite. The Last Handshake: Episode 1 Principle 1: Once Upon a Time

Thank you, Dr Mehmet Yildiz and ILLUMINATIONS for this opportunity to introduce myself.

Below is a story I wrote, an acronym of appreciation for Illumination.
