My Opposite Bucket List

Ten things I’ll never do.

Photo by Sandy Millar on Unsplash

This is the most difficult thing for me to write because I’ve always said I’ll try anything once.

Number 1. I’ll never get married again. I don’t care how much I love you or how wonderful you are.

Number 2. I’ll never move in with another man. Yes, you heard right! I don’t care if it makes financial sense or not. I’ll travel with you and share your bed but I’ll never give up my own space even if it’s a humble hovel.

Number 3. I’ll never play chess. ‘Nuff said. I’m with you on this one, Vidya!

Number 4. I won’t ever skydive. Sorry, Anne Bonfert.

Number 5. I won’t ever bungy jump either. Never had that desire.

Number 6. I won’t ever go white water rafting again. Once was enough! I loved it but came out of it with a shoulder injury that still gives me gyp thirty years later.

Number 7. Well, this is a no but maybe not a hard no. The only flavour that I detest is aniseed/ licorice. But I have learned to like fennel so who knows? Ouzo and similar drinks are still off the table though.

Number 8. I will never stop writing. Apart from the boost it gives my ego to find that people actually like my shite, that someone is actually prepared to pay me for it just blows my mind.

Number 9. Get a tattoo. Pain is not my friend. I can admire the beautiful artwork on other people without copying.

Number 10. Undergo any sort of cosmetic surgery. Who in their right mind would put themselves through pain if it wasn’t absolutely necessary?

I had such fun writing this that I’m going to invite some other writers along to do this challenge too. Use the tag “Anti Bucket List” and tag me if you want to.

JoAnn Ryan, Anne Bonfert, Jillian Amatt, Katie Michaelson, Barb Dalton, Karen Schwartz, Allison Ditmer, Jan Sebastian, Michele Maize, Michelle Y. Kwak, Linda Ng, and Raine Lore.
