My iPhone Is A Modern Day Marvel.
It is funny how one simple device could pack a punch. People might stay away from me when I am emitting negative vibes. People might be pissed with me when I am confrontational. My iPhone? She does what she is instructed to. That’s it. What a gem.

In fact, my iPhone saved me on multiple days. As a device, she does all her best to support me at any given point in time. She never left me alone when I am kicking pebbles by the roadside.
And she is quiet. Real quiet. She does vibrate to get my attention once in a while. If I disable the vibration function, she obeys. She doesn’t fight back. It does feel good.
That is in stark contrast with human interaction. Doing the exact opposite of our request is in our DNA. Try telling your mum to leave you alone, and she will continue to stay in your room.
Try telling your wife not to talk to you. She will continue to talk to you.
What a marvel.
She is a brilliant source of entertainment as well. As if YouTube isn’t enough, Netflix and Spotify can be activated at a touch of my fingertips. I am surrounded by the World of my choice when I plug in my earpiece.
The important thing is, I get to block out the World that I cannot choose.
My iPhone also displays the numbers that matter to me. Stock indices, step count, number of viewers, Medium earnings — You name it, and she presents it.
With no complaints.
The level of maturity displayed is high, way higher than an intern who scoffs at a request to collect a parcel from the mailroom.
Trust me, if I could get the DHL delivery guy to complete the last mile delivery from the reception to my office, I would.
I know that service delivery folks are more courteous to their customers.
And my iPhone does not discriminate against the multiple hats I wear throughout the day. I could be a visitor to a country for the first time. She retrieves the map and shows me the way.
I could be an executive looking to connect with my business contact. She retrieves the contact information and initiates a conversation by a mode of my choice.
She does a great job at capturing my best moments via photos or videos. She doesn’t scream when I start deleting the shots I didn’t like. She understands with a full heart.
There are days when she annoys me. Yup.
Sometimes, she slipped. Mysterious phone numbers appear on my screen when they shouldn’t. It is rare, but it occurs.
There are times where she bailed out on me when I needed her the most too. Having her tell me that she is on life support with 5% battery life remaining is terrifying. I need my electronic executive assistant around to support whatever I do.
So, I ensure that her energy level is maintained at a full tank.
It is akin to leaving someone alone so they can recharge. I leave her alone when she is charging too. She doesn’t cry for milk. She sucks the electrical current silently.
There is no noise. There is no further attention-grabbing technique.
She sits there and does her thing. She sits there and waits for me.
Elegance In Simplicity.
