My Earnings In April After Writing 18 Articles In 30 Days
Last month’s earnings report is incredibly revealing!
It’s that time of the month when it’s time for me to report last month’s earnings! I always get excited this time of the month because it’s also a way for me to share and engage with new and current Medium writers.
Why read earnings reports? For some people, writing is serious business and a way to have a side-hustle that pays. For other people, it’s just a hobby and a way to express their creativity. A lot of people would like writing to be both a hobby and a way to earn extra income. That’s me!
I used to read other people’s earnings reports to determine if writing for Medium would be a huge waste of my time. I spent hours writing for other sites and found the time and effort producing quality articles was not time well spent. Some writers reveal that they earned an amazing amount of money after only being on Medium for a few months. Some writers take a few years to start seeing a difference. Everyone is unique and it is important not to compare your journey with other people’s experiences on Medium. For myself, it is taking some time, but it is time well-spent writing quality articles.
When I first started last November, Medium was a new site to discover. I was also on Vocal Media but it was difficult to find a robust and sharing writing community. So when I started with Medium, I was immediately impressed with the fellowship and the positive vibes I received from writers and publishers.
I only made $8 last December, when I first qualified for the Medium Partner Program. But I regularly read other people’s earnings reports which helped me to stay positive and hopeful that things would change for the better.
Fortunately, things have been improving for me. In fact, my monthly earnings in April were the highest ever since I landed on Medium last November!
This is great news for new Medium writers who are seeing small earnings. Keep writing, and stay positive!
The good news is that my earnings reports opened the door for my readers to discover my older articles, which have wide-ranging topics from health habits to witnessing a UFO — not joking!
I ended the month earning $95.07 US or approximately $122.10 Cdn for writing 18 articles! This is significantly higher than my March earnings of $42 for 16 articles. This is truly a game-changer for me and I have never earned more than $50 before!
I encourage other new and current writers to analyze their own articles to discover what articles were most popular and least popular with the Medium audiences.
The most significant takeaway for me is that the longer I am on Medium, the more my older articles are also getting readers. Articles I wrote months ago are being discovered and read.
Don’t be discouraged if you are just starting out and are not impressed with your initial earnings. Keep writing, trying, and believing in yourself! ! - After all, Rome was not built in a day!
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.
