Man Wasn’t Happy With the Instagram Filter That He Slashed 100 Influencers’ Faces

A movie review.

Nostalgia is back, and so is Leatherface.

The granddaddy of slasher movies is back. So, take a backseat, Michael Myers and Jason Vorhees; here comes Leatherface.

The movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre is now streaming on Netflix, and if you are asking if it is a skip or a stream, I hope my movie review can help you decide if you will watch it or not.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Halloween was rebooted in 2018, and it made so much money that it became a trilogy. Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends will hopefully put to rest Michael Myers.

And this year, a new Scream movie was shown in theaters, which was widely anticipated. With a new cast plus the old gang, it is safe to say that Ghostface didn’t stand a chance.

So, why wouldn’t someone put a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel? I don’t know why it ended up exclusively for streaming on Netflix, but it works so well for people like me who have yet overcome their fear of going to a theater.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the movie review

If you ever watched any other TCM movies after the original, forget about them, as this new movie is the direct sequel to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie classic shown in 1974.

Image from Netflix.

The movie begins with a group of young people who take over an abandoned town, do a major makeover of the place, and sell it to anyone living in a historical town like Harlow.

The group arrived only a few hours before the bus that brought a bunch of investors/influencers was set to come to the small town.

It wasn’t as abandoned as they thought the town was, to their surprise. In one of the old houses, a woman claimed to own the house. She had a son who appeared shortly after believing that her mother was being harassed by Melody (Sarah Yarkin) and her business partner Dante (Jacob Latimore).

Later, Melody and Dante called the sheriff to take away the older woman and her son. Unfortunately, the older woman had a heart attack as soon as they arrived.

With their guests arriving soon, Melody and Dante wanted to make sure that they owned the title of the older woman’s house, but it turned out the house wasn't part of the deal they had with the bank.

I will leave you to watch the movie, to know at what point Leatherface appeared.

Like the original movie, it tried to make Leatherface a victim for the audience to feel sympathy whenever he starts cutting people into pieces.

And it succeeds in part because, believe it or not, “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” is another cautionary tale about gentrification. Nobody would sympathize with the lead characters.

But unlike the original in all its simplicity and the gore that came with that movie, this sequel only captured the gore, and I never really felt scared.

Even when the character from 50 years ago reappeared to take her final vengeance against Leatherface, I knew she wouldn’t survive the night.

There is a surprise waiting for anyone who dislikes influencers. A busload of them and their encounter with Leatherface will make you laugh or not.

There will be other sequels to this movie, as there is a final girl, like Sally in 1974; she can very well take revenge versus Leatherface.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is now streaming on Netflix. It is a miss, but if you love a slasher movie, take out some popcorn and lie down on your leather couch.

Speaking of Texas, I wrote a story about Senator Ted Cruz, and I hope you would read that one too.
