"Halloween Kills" is the latest installment in the long-running slasher franchise, following the continued battle between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers, but it receives mixed reviews, with some finding it stale and disappointing despite its attempts to involve the entire town in the horror.
Abstract
The movie "Halloween Kills" picks up where the 2018 reboot left off, with Michael Myers surviving a fiery trap set by Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis. The film explores the town's collective fear and anger as they form a mob to hunt down Myers, leading to tragic misidentifications and senseless violence. While the movie aims to expand the scope of the horror beyond the main characters, critics argue that it lacks the fear factor and emotional depth of its predecessors, leaving audiences feeling detached from the iconic characters and the unfolding terror. The film sets the stage for the final showdown between Strode and Myers in the upcoming "Halloween Ends."
Opinions

The reviewer feels neither scared by Michael Myers nor particularly empathetic towards Laurie Strode or the townspeople, who are depicted as becoming monstrous themselves.
The review suggests that the film fails to effectively utilize its central characters, with both Myers and Strode appearing "tired."
The reviewer reflects on the nature of fear, questioning personal fears, and implies that the film does not effectively tap into the audience's deeper fears.
Review of Halloween Kills
It ain't over until Michael Myers is dead.

Why am I watching a horror movie a few days after the New Year? I always love the genre, and after watching Doctor Sleep, the sequel movie to one of the scariest movies of all time, The Shining, it is time to watch what happens next in the Halloween movie franchise.
One can say it is the grandfather of slasher films, and so a question pops in my head, where was I in the last 43 years?
Because that is how long the slasher franchise has been scaring audiences for. I have aged along with all the characters from the first movie. From1978 when Jamie Lee Curtis was cast as Laurie Strode. Since then, she has become the original scream queen and one of the most beloved.
Halloween Kills is the new movie in the franchise, and it is said the second to the last movie, the latter being Halloween Ends make its way to the cinema this year.
Will it be the last time we see Michael Myers and Laurie Strode fighting each other or alongside each other?
Halloween Kills
The movie starts where Halloween 2018 ends after Laurie thought she killed Michael in the burning basement fire.
But she didn't, Michael is left breathing and survives, and as Laurie is being brought to the hospital, she sees fire trucks on their way to the burning basement, and she knows that Michael Myers will somehow find his way to escape the fire.
Caution: Spoiler Alert!
Michael Myers not only survived but is out to get the whole town. By now, with 12 movies in the franchise, you would think people are tired of Michael Myers or ask: why doesn't he just die?
Most of the new movie revolves around the small town, and many scenes take place inside the hospital where Laurie was brought after her do-or-die encounter.
By now, the whole town becomes a mob out to kill the evil haunting their town in the last forty years.
The problem with a mob is that it usually gets the wrong guy, the innocent, and that is exactly what happens when the town misidentified Michael.
So the poor guy they were chasing ends up killing himself, while Michael Myers finds his way back to his original home. By then has already killed a dozen or more people, and just for fun.
The movie becomes stale in the middle. Even if you are a die-hard fan, you suddenly become confused by Michael and the townspeople.
By the end, things get better, Laurie's daughter, Jamie, thought she delivered the final blow that would finally kill Michael Myers. Still, she ended up having to defend her life against Michael, setting up what could be the final confrontation of Laurie and Michael in the movie that is set to be out in cinema this year.
“Let it burn!” — Laurie Strode
Many of the Halloween Kills movie reviews you will read online are negative reviews. Some go as far as saying it is a disappointment.
While you get what you expect from a slasher movie, you expect more from Michael Myers and Laurie Strode, who appeared in the film tired.
By the end credits I can't help but process my feeling about why I'm neither afraid of Michael Myers nor that empathic towards Laurie or the town, especially after they become the very monster that they are trying to kill.
Fear is the biggest monster of our lives, and I can only ask myself, what am I afraid of today?
