PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE

Morning Dew and Sunset Romance

Week 57 of the photographic documentary of my daily life

It feels like rain finished together with the month of August. I shouldn’t say it out loud but we had some great weather since September started. Temperatures started to rise again and the skies were cleared from clouds. Mostly at least.

I’m hoping for a golden October but before that, an even better September. The summer months weren’t the best and we lost out on a lot of money due to lots of canceled weekends. When rain is coming we simply can’t jump out of planes.

The predictions were great and I was full of energy for the upcoming days of work. It’s Wednesday and I did 6 jumps. Not bad for the beginning of a busy week!

And then I got this stunning sunset view walking back to the caravan. These bushes on the side of the pond took my attention and I had to get them into the sunset shot.

24 hours later I was looking again towards the setting sun. She creates every evening such an amazing spectacle. It’s unbelievable. I’ve seen many pretty sunsets over the years. But at this airport, the sunset is every evening unique.

On Saturday I was just finished with work. My last jump was done but one more load was landing into the setting sun. I didn’t have my camera with me to zoom into the scene but my GoPro still captured one parachute flying above the burning sun.

Only a few hours later I got up again. The muscles, still sore from a few days of jumping, but Sunday I had to push through. One more day of work before I get to rest. And as I stepped out of the caravan I looked into this.

The rising sun lit up the grass. Drops of morning haze were still hanging on the blades of grass. And the planes in the distance were still covered in fog. When I opened the wooden gate a majestic spider web was greeting me.

After a long day of work on Sunday, I drove home. But instead of 4 hours, it took me five and a half. I got stuck in a traffic jam. It was really annoying and I was tired. Only got back home on Monday just before 1 a.m.

Monday afternoon I joined my husband to work. But instead of sitting back and relaxing, I found myself back on the packing mat. Packing his parachute each time he jumped it plus a few for some students.

Now my body is really tired…

Last week, when my parents came to visit, my mom brought me this lovely pot of chrysanthemum. I should have been more excited because I really love those flowers. But I pointed at the pot of dying rocket and the other herb that is barely alive.

This is surely not like me but being away for five out of seven days a week these plants didn’t make it. So how will this flower survive? A flower that needs plenty of water?

My mom decided to not put her under the balcony and rather in the open. When I came back from work this weekend I was surprised to not see the flower heads hanging down but very much blooming in full glory.

Later I found out my landlord had been watering the pot. A little bit of kindness can go a long way… And made me smile!
