Money… Money… Money
Thank You for a Successful Month of Writing
My second month on Medium/Illumination and thanks to you, my readers, I’ve made my goal with a little change to spare.
What was the goal?
Well, as you know my goal last month was to pay for my subscription. I achieved that and had enough left-over for a cup of home-brewed coffee. I was ecstatic!
In May, I raised the bar a little. The goal was to cover my expenses (monthly fee) and have enough left for a good cup of coffee brewed by the barista at my favorite coffee shop, which I think may be opening this month. And, I’ll even have a little change left.
I couldn’t have done it without you. So thank you for not only clicking on the links to my stories, but reading and interacting with them and me. It has been a real pleasure to get to know you better. I look forward to more of that this month.
In particular, I’d like to thank the following 87 reader/writers who not only read one or more of my pieces, but took the time to highlight, clap and otherwise respond to them. I very much appreciate your time and effort.

I do my best to reciprocate.
I surprised myself by writing and posting 31 articles in May, an average of one per day. It was fun. Each was a labor of love. You inspired many of them by what you wrote and the comments you made. The SCBWI challenge inspired me to write everyday and provided 31 prompts, one for each day in May.
I hope you enjoyed reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.
I don’t have big writing plans for June. With the nicer weather I want to spend more time outside. The lake beckons and I’m anxious to get the kayak wet. Still, I’ll be reading, writing and connecting on Medium/Illumination as time permits.
The following readers have been especially supportive. I commend them to you for further reading, enjoyment and inspiration.
Amy Marley has posted a story summarizing the responses to the SCWBI challenge here:
My friend Kevin Buddaeus just published an excellent explanation of the famed double-slit experiment in quantum mechanics. If you are up for a little science explained in layman’s terms, take a look at his article
Caroline MacDonald gives 5 simple (but not necessarily easy) ways to unleash our potential.
Harley King wrote a fascinating story poem about what it means to take someones picture. I often wonder about such things when I see portraits of weathered faces. What stories lie behind those wrinkles?
If you don’t know who Holly Jahangiri is, you really must read her introduction. You’ll be glad you did.
Rasheed Hooda wrote a poignant and timely piece touching on the protests unleashed by the killing of George Floyd by a police officer in Minneapolis:
Riku Arikiri has compiled a list of the works he’s published during his 58 days on Medium:
Saloni Joshi wrote a touching ode to her story-telling grandfather:
Tree Langdon ♾️ wrote a short but touching senryu:
Trista Ainsworth wrote a poetic response telling us why she cannot find Joy in the days following the killing of George Floyd
Thank you for reading and responding.
Happy Reading, Writing and Connecting.
